never seen the documentary but i've read lots of other books on the subject and seen other documentaries.
the worldwide water situation is so fucked. huge catch 22. Dams, groundwater/water table tapping, water displacement are just some of the problems that are being ignored in the presence of the "oil crisis".
Thanks in a large part to LA like you mentioned, the Colorado river has more water accounted for/allocated elsewhere than is in it in the first place. The Colorado doesn't even reach the ocean anymore. We have a deal with Mexico where we are supposed to allocate them X amount of water every year and we don't give them any of it... to the point where we don't even give them the river that is supposed to end up in the gulf down there.
