Sue his ass???

Looking for some help here. So I went a couple hours from where I;m living and painted some houses for this guys business. Also helped him move a bunch of shit and drove him around. He used to be an addict but has been fucking chill for thew last couple years. Apparently this end of winter wasn't good to him. He started fucking up big time. I did a bunch of shit for him and he's been ducking me for pay now. Had to go back home, couldn't wait around any longer. Drove to his place tried to track him down. Found his truck but nothing worth stealing to barter. He;s been ducking me hard for two days. Trying to figured out what I need to do to sue his ass in small claims court for the money he owes me.

Got a hold of him last night and he was like " Yo I'm With my g/f, had plans with her so basically fuck you" Tried to put the shit on me. I'm like yo asshole, I called you all day, got a hold of the kid you were working with and told him to let you know I called, I know that kid did that too. Then he was like dude I don't even owe you that much money (which is bullshit) but I told Him( Even if you owed me 10 bucks, which it's far more than that, you still owe me money and I need it right now. He just got a check for the last house we painted for 2500.

I need to know how to sue his ass if I need to which it looks like I might have to. I live almost 4 hours away so I can't fuck around with this shit. He obviously relapsed this spring and has been going down with his business. I found out he is being sued by someone else for 1k already, he had 2 dwis, and whatever else charges.

I'm In no way a narc, that's probably obvious by now, but When somebody fucks with me I'm going to do what I need to do. I'm trying to find a non violent way to get my money and let him rot in his own demise as he wishes. All I want is my loot and then he can do whatever he feels like with his company.

Anybody know the criteria or the methods to go about suing somebody, or if this is my best route?

Small claims court is easier to win and prove shit. What kind of proof you got?

Probably best to sue him as a whole person. Chances are, his ass won't individually have any assets you can sue for. If you sue the whole person, you'll have a better chance of winning.

But to the OP, i was thinking about doing that to my old boss, he still owes me 80 dollars but i forgot about it and moved on. It all depends on how much he owes you, how much proof you have, and how much of a legit guy you are vs. him maybe being a dink in court. Just do not lie about how much he owes you. Calculate it first because if you approximate you might screw yourself over.

If you don't have an invoice of some sort, there are laws if he verbally agreed to pay you......
PM with more details, and I'll ask my dad what to do, hes been a lawyer for 20+ years now....yea I'm getting you free legal advice haha

And a little more advice, DO NOT steal from him something to barter. You will just ruin your chance of getting paid at all.

i think the verbal agreement only holds if the amount is under like $400 or something like that. so i guess it depends on how much he owes you.

As far as the thread I don't have any written documents regarding the work. I know the hours and the dates. And was working with at least one other person all the days. It's only about 100 bucks. But fuck sketchy people. I'd rather give it to a hobo.
