its a "cool thing to do" because its fun. This thread seems like one of those "Jiberish selling to more than just skiers?!?" Its a sport that is known world wide, people are going to do it because its fun, get over it.

I feel the same way as the OP

Last year, few people were ''longboarding'' in my town but this year it seems like that a lot of people are trying to be cool by buying them. In my school, I see enormous girls with big hoodies rolling in the hallway and claiming it to everybody. And other guys who had absolutely no style, I mean real geeks are starting to get some and trying to act cool with them (always claiming they go to clubs and texting their friends to ask them stupid questions just to get their SICK new phone in front of everyone). I know what I just said wasn't really related to the main subject but I feel like longboards are becoming a new way to look ''cool'', ''a claim tool''.

Before, people who were longboarding were really chill and had such an awesome style but now geeks and ugly chicks are ruining this stereotype.

I know my 500TH POST!!!!!!! is mean but it's the way I feel.

I've been longboarding for years, and actually doing it, not just commuting.

Longboards are pretty much the new bikes at school, and people keep walking around with 5ft dancers and dervished. The not posers ride minis.

longboarding is the cool thing to do.
personally, ive been skating for years and i get stoked about how many people i know who have gotten into it, despite being newcomers. im not sure how many friends you have, but its always tighter rolling with a crew
what do you expect? a select number of kids too keep longboarding "underground" when its so much fun?

yeah in my area it was 4 longboarders and this year its like 20 and everyones got loadeds

including me.

i feel like most of the kids do it to be cool as do you. the kids claim like no other and some blow

my friend in i got in a huge fight with this lady cuz she tailed us (scariest experience of my life) and told us to get off the road (which gets like trafficked by maybe 100 cars a day, tops). Then she dropped the first swear words so my friend returned the favor, and then she threatened to call the cops cuz what we were doing on the road and for swearing in front of her child hahaha

apparently everyone who goes to uni in their first year picks up a longboard and tosses a frisbee in the quad. biggest fad/trend ever in life. not knockin frisbee tho haha, i tossed it in first year and still do sometimes....but longboards annoy the fuck out of me. its probably from my skate mentality, i automatically see longboading as skating for kids who cant skate and turn to "the next best thing". Longboards are pretty much accessories on campus, trend whores who want to be "different/unique" ride them...

Not gonna knock real longboarding down crazy ass hills and slashin around though, that would scare the fuck outta me.

i'm not hating on long boarding at all. i just see more and more 12 year olds with these long boards from zumies..

i can only think of one thing when i see that... that they're just buying em cuz its now being played off as the cool thing.. know what i mean?

i bought a longboard when my bike got stolen last year, its just another way to get around for me. i see mad people on longboards around here but i would say literally none of them are "trend-whoring", they're using them for the same purpose i am.

just because people who are more popular than you longboard doesn't mean they are doing it because it is trendy. Basically anything that is fun will eventually catch on with the mainstream. I mean look at skateboarding, surfing and freeskiing. They are all mainstream sports now but i don't think people do them to look cool.

Longboards are also a good mode of transportation. I ride my board around campus a lot because the paths are too bumpy for my skateboard. Seriously they are pretty much the best way to get around for medium distances.

I'm starting because it just looks like a ton of fun. And I do drive but why not be environmentally friendly? Get some air rushing in your face. Enjoy the world for what it has to offer. After all if it weren't for nature this site would not exist.

And since when has the loaded dervish been hated on so much. Every review I read says there freakin ill, Original Apex-37 also looks good.

Can't wait to get mine from a friend of mine that makes em'.
