If any of you have heard of the tragedy that happened in Poland today, its really quite scary. 85 highly placed government officials including the president and his cabinet were all killed in a plane crash in Russia today. i dont know any details but Im sure its on the news. I just thought you should be informed. If this happened in the US people would probably be freaking out.

And for a cool story: My dad was in a jail cell with the Polish president who just died and several of the other people during the Solidarity movement.

most unfortunate. apparently they aren't considering it foul play.

this is why you do not have your government travel together. In the US, the president and vice president are just about never together. That's also why the State of the Union address could be considered the most high-risk time, because if something happened to the capital building during that speech....the US government would be completely wiped out.

Wow, huge shock. I got plenty of family there and it is just crazy. Huge bummer. Even though many of his politics were disagreed with by many at least people can put that aside in death and mourn the death of a person, as well as over 90 others

yeah my dad was pretty upset, and 99% of my family lives there and i do agree that it was not a smart decision to have so many people in one place, especially a plane

What's gone down is absolutely crazy.

What makes it worse is the irony-- they were on the way to the site of the murder of over ten thousand military officials after world war two, an event which russia originally denied the existence of, then denied participation in. Only recently did Russia accept responsibility for the murder -- in which my great grandfather was killed -- and the officials were going for a memorial ceremony.

The sheer amount of irony will make it sound like foul play to very many people.

yeah i was just informed my great uncle was in those soldiers and escaped by bribing one of the russians with his camera and they let him go..crazy AND that was the exact same day my grandfather was taken to a concentration camp for being polish at the age of 17...
