Ski design critique

Ok, i already have a thread in M&A, but there is a lot more traffic over here, and i need something to do tonight
I'm looking for critiques, things to add, or new ideas
I started with this:

Then tweaked it to this, but i'm not sure if i want to leave the strips more simple and put something on top, or just the strips

Are the stripes what you want? Like, do you want stripes but different ideas? Or are you open to all sorts of designs? If you are looking for ideas on stripes, the updated ski looks sick.

I like the first more.
Maybe think about changing up colors? And it might look better, if you were to change the colors on one ski to different then the other ski. I don't know, just think that would look pretty ill.

only photoshop, its all i have

I have been plating with the colors and i haven't been able to find anything else that works well, except a purple/black mix on the background

meh, don't really like.
i like something more complex, but that's just me
but if i had to choose one, i would go with the first.

I like the first one but what if you did the thing where one ski is backwards to the other. That way the is design and colour on both sides of the ski.

ya the first one, don't use a simple background though, maybe something textured, nothing to distracting though. Sorta like the new k2 extremes

Honestly dude, you are designing a ski to look like that after having seen the way that EVERY companies graphics have stepped it up over the past 2-3 seasons?

Good luck with your cookie-cutter MS Paint looking design.

I disagree, I think the simplicity is better than some of the graphics of recent (cough afterbangs cough). They're not perfect yet, but I think it's definitely the right direction.

the font is from the Rocky Mountain Underground website, it is a design for their contest, so their font, not mine

I could be wrong, but i am pretty sure uni-corn was co-collab on designing the skis from K2 this year. Hellbents especially, you can see his influence in there.

no offense, but i'd rather post it after the contest. Not really trying to give away my ideas that i used in the ski to other people.

Honestly this is about creativity.. If i were you I would draw something on paper and pencil... shapes, designs, people, objects, animals, etc... and scan them and make them into a collage and add colors and everything. Look at any of Eric Pollards skis for example. He continuously has the sickest and sometimes most simple designs year after year. Start with the paper and hand drawings
