and did the chair not have auxiliary power? it looks like a high speed quad if i'm not mistaken, and most of those should have a backup diesel engine

they seem to be using a different lift evac system than what we use by me. we use more of a seat, they have a arm sling.  but seemed like a routine rescue. i wonder what happened to the lift, as it should have a diesel back up.

Well said, I'm a Lift mechanic at one of the resorts here in Utah and what your saying is spot on! My guess would be the gear box.......................

heard a couple bolts got knocked out or somethin, nothin with the power or motor.  Anywho sunday was a mad house iin carinthia cause of that

Nomen hit it right on. The mechanical problem could have prevented any operation of the line until the repair is done.

Looked like a pretty standard lift evac. I've participated in one (voluntary, not a live scenario. It was training). It gets tricky on rougher terrain though. This evac was was smooth and straight forward, the skiers did not panic or freak from what I could see and cooperated nicely.

it would be scary as shit if it was on higher and steeper terrain, or if the wind was howling.

hell ya, me and my friend moved over to the double for gulch, and hit the large park, but then they shut that lift down and they were all crumby

Haha a little late on the thread, but I was on that lift, I was near the bottom about 8-10 feet up so I just jumped but I remember watching them do that, and this one lady was screaming hysterically haha
