holy shit! that run was straight up absurd. people in most big mtn comps dont do any tricks and frenchie backslap their straight airs. candide just sent 3 huge tricks off the biggest airs in the venue. i hope that these "freeride world tour" competitors just saw this.

Tanner is being quite the douche! Yes big mtn is sick, but dont make excuses cause you cant keep up in the park. skiing is a diverse sport. And is that a tinge of euro accent?

yes, am pretty surprised no one has reacted to Tanner vids yet. It is a pretty strong statement he is making, and he seems pretty agro as well ! As much as I share his vision in relation to skiing I dont think he should be the one making such a strong call out ....

yea tanner is most obviously fucked up on some shit. hes making a complete ass of himself. isnt jon olson thinking outside the box trying to ski race? didnt tanner think he was the shit when he ruled the park?

what happened to big ups, respect and all of that other shit tanner was talking in his rasta days. now hes just straight talking shit in that video.

but honestly i would be fucked up and bitter too if i was out of a sport i was on top of for a season and a half.

dude I don't think you should cap this, facto if he is one of the best skier outtathere is that he took the time to dominate both slopestyle, pipe and BC. He must therefore have done a faire amount of "ice skiing" himself. The fact that he might be injured and high as a kite is another problem :)

I feel like people are not recognizing what an unbelievable run Candide just did. Cork seven blunt in, huge three, HUGE backy. WTF. That shit was insane. Absolutely fucking insane. This thread is not about Tanner, so don't make it about him. Everyone needs to focus on that run and give huge UPS to Candide. That dude BROKE HIS BACK. Now he is back winning a big mountain comp. And not just winning. He single handedly just pushed the level of big mountain skiing to a whole new level. Respect.

Why not? Even if he's obviously baked, I think it's awesome that a great skier like Tanner has the guts to say that rails, pipe & stuff aren't "real skiing". Even if it's great to see kids throwing incredible tricks nowadays, it's sad that they can't even ski off-piste in the pow.

well, well , it is sure that the new "generation" of skiers, definitely has a slightly reduced vision of skiing due to the media to which they are exposed. However I think we should all stand strong on the fact that there isnt such thing as "fake skiing", and I think there is a great responsability in showing unity in all aspect of the sport.

all anyone is saying about the tanner situation is that its absurd, because look what his skiing career was founded on.............. just because he got old and couldnt hang with the park scene anymore now hes obsessed with the big mountain scene, and totally forgetting his roots. who the fuck cares if kids dont go off piste, they are buying passes , helping to keep the mountain open, and usually and saving the fresh powder for me!


tanner sounds like a scenester to me.

I think that everybody agrees on the fact that there's no "fake skiing". However, what Tanner meant is that freeriding is the basis of our sport. People are developing it with the pipe, the rails etc... and that's great! But we should not forget what the fundamentals of ski are.
