the abc coverage is absurb. getting hurt is part of snowboarding/skiing. this wouldnt have been on TV if he wasn't an olympic hopeful.

That's like when the guy freaked out on lindsey jacobellis for falling and taking the silver instead of the gold. She let her country down because she wanted to show off and she was such a bad person for it or something.

Honestly she tweaked out that absolutely perfect method, which was a gold for me. so what if she fell on the landing. How many times do you get to tweak out a method with that many people watching you. I gave the effort thumbs up, and we still got a silver

Fuck that. Why would the olympics have to "do something" about athetes falling and getting injured. Yes it sucks that he got hurt so bad but that's just part of the risk we all take when when strap in/click in whatever. Next thing you know they are going to start regulating the kinds of tricks they can do.. wtf.

They basically want to put a limit on extreme sports which is bullshit cause the risk is what makes these sports so interesting and fun to watch.

that dumb bitch should be shot. i cant believe anyone could go up on a news station and fucking blatantly lie that they have knowledge about a subject like that, and then fucking try to advise people how to act because of kevins injury.

pearce, as much as i feel for him, his family, his friends ETC. got hurt knowing full well what he was getting into. he was participating in a sport he LOVES to fucking death. putting any kind of limit on that, is complete and total bullshit.

you can't stop the progression of a sport. you cant put limits on the talent of athletes. thats wrong. its like telling Da Vinci what colors he could use in a painting.
i fucking hate media, and dumb, ignant, "experts" trying to elict some kind of "outcry" for safety.

god the woman they talked to is a dumb bitch. "its definitely gone too far". hmmm... maybe we should have them race down the halfpipe. and they have to hit the walls like a wallride at least five times for it to count. then it will appeal to to "young people in their teens and 20s". this is a good example of people not knowing what theyre talking about. it happens in ski racing. maybe we should put speed limits on the GS courses. when you do these sports, you accept the risk every time you drop in. this shit is going to happen. fucking deal with it.

There will always be people who don't understand the "extreme sports" mentality. If shooting hoops is thrilling enough for them, that's awesome. But other people really love adrenaline, and any effort that attempts to put a cap on that will be pretty futile. People are wired differently, and that's never going to change.

the athletes aren't being 'force' to get amplitude and push the limits so the olympics will get more ratings. that's such bullshit. they don't care about ratings at all. they just wanna progress their own skills and try to be the best of the best. there is no pressure except for the fact they're trying to beat their friends in the pipe. pisses me off. they completely understand the dangers but obviously they're gonna keep going harder because of the love for the sport

ABC, maybe you should actually bring in an expert that knows shit about the industry, not some old washed up fuck that watches shaun white win the gold medal every four years. Second, were was this coverage when Derek Spong almost died or when McConkey did die. Athletes recognize the risk yet still do it duh.

God that just annoyed me. Just terrible, poorly researched and sensationalist journalism. There have been deaths in alpine skiing events in the past - and they're not calling for a speed limit in the downhill. Many sports are inherently dangerous, and participants (especially at the highest level) know the risks, and how to minimise them.

And she said the IOC was 'Euro centric' for chosing Rio over Chicago for the 2016 Olympics. Last time I checked, Chicago is significantly closer to Europe than Rio (Not that that has anything to do with Kevin Pearce, so I don't even know why it was mentioned.)

Bahahaha I could train for like 5 days and learn cork 9s in the pipe. I could do cork 9s for an entire season and NEVER do them anywhere close to 20 feet out. That is why amplitude is a necessary part of pipe competitions.

It hilarious to see how far removed from the public eye "extreme sports" are. Its not about winning, its not about competing, its about having fun everyday and pushing yourself, pushing the sport, pushing others and pushing what's possible on snow. Hopefully one day people realize that and come to respect it.

The best way I can relate our sport to people that don't understand it is to get them to imagine a skiing speed record attempt - you're only limited by what you have the balls to try, and sometimes when you're going that far, shit happens.

Either way, positive vibes for kevin pearce, hope he makes a speedy and successful recovery.

first of all +vibes.

second, that lady is either dumb as shit or has a really strong dislike of snowboarding. she said multiple times that the medical olympic committee needed to "look into" the dangers behind extreme sports. what the fuck does that mean? what would they do to make it safer, ban inverts? i mean after her little irrelevant, hostile shpiel on how extreme sports are in the olympics for ratings not because they actually deserve to be there, its obvious she has some beef with the sport.

oh and any arguments they made were irrelevant. i guess they forgot about aerials or turned on their doublethink to imagine that "twisting double back flips" have never been done in the olympics before.
