I want bindings that will last

Up until now, my binding buying policy has pretty much been find the cheapest binding you can that has your DIN setting.

Lately ive realised i value my knees at more tan $50 and want to get a gooodd pair of freestyle bindings and i want them to last. I want to go through 3 pairs a skis before getting a new binding.

I dont want to blow money on something that wont last, i want to spend on these buindings with the hopes of having them over the years.

Which bindings can fit the bill?

Im 16 5'5" 128lbs, i ski anywhere from %70-%90 park and %30-%10 all mountain.

Current bindings are look nova tens

if youre on nova ten's youre in the 3-10/4-12 din binding range. i would suggest:
look p10 (they wont be in any shop but ebay is your friend here)
marker griffon 12
look/dynastar px 12 (jib) or the rossignol equivalent

basically, any dildo binding or the new marker bindings.
those are the two most recommended styles for freestyle skiers

i dont recommend anything that says lifter in the name

Instead of geting plastic pieces of crap like some other people say to get *cough* .... if you are looking for durability, and quality bindings, I'd look at FKS 155's or 185 (or the new 180's obvs) or some of the all metal deadbolts (Made by tyrolia I believe) .

Pretty much if you're looking for a durable binding get one build out of solid materials.

All metal FKS are lighter (by FAR) than px 12's

px12s have a big ass metal tack on them that adds a ton of weight.  Dont be fooled.

ahah jokes, anyone have experience with dynastart px 12 jibs?

Im looking at them on backcountry and i really like the game they talk up but again will they stand the test of time.

They are decent bindings. A bit heavy, a lot of adjustability in the heel, but I've seen a lot of people who had to replace them after a few seasons. Basically all plastic (not that thats a horrible thing.) Not the best IMO, but there are a lot of worse things out there too. Pretty solid bindings though

Don't do it. Mine fell apart in one season. But, you are quite a bit smaller than me.

If you want a really bomber binding, you're going to have to drop some skrilla. Jesters, STH16's, Mojo 15/18's, FKS, or 4FRT Deadbolt 15/18's. All of those will long outlast any ski you mount them on.

fks 120 sound good for you. vertical toe release makes them made safe for park use. i never pre released in mine, i rode them for a whole season but i am way bigger than you. they can take a beating. i now upgraded to the 140's with a higher din. yeah they set me back alot but id rather have a binding thats safe and well made.


fks 155's could be an option too even though no vertical release they will be a bomber binding just watch out for your knees. they will come off when you want them too.


did i mention no pre releasing with fks ?


i'm never going to any other binding after i've owned fks' you wont be disappointed.


you're a local too which means sports page sells both the old and new fks' they will also bend your brakes for you. so theres another plus

good luck on your binding hunt, but really...get fks 120's

i dont care what people in this thread say, if youre that small, do NOT get fks 185/155 or mojo/deadbolt/tyrolia 15/18s. thats way too much binding for a you. look into p10s or some other smaller din binding like the griffins. people say theyre made of plastic and will break, but honestly, youre pretty small, so its gonna take a lot of abuse to break them.

thanks everyone, +k, ive got a general idea of what i might be getting now.

And for those posting high din bindings, i dont really need something that goes that high unless they would be more durable than there lower din counterparts?

realisticly a 12 is probably the highest din binding id need ( not that i would set them that high) i just want something thats bombproof and wont leave me shilling out $$$ every year for new bindings.

Dude...he's 5'5" 130 lbs, he doesn't need 15 or 18 DIN bindings.

Also, this thread made me laugh because it made me reminisce of the days when Marker was ridiculed as the worst binding on the market...now they have some of the most popular.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that he doesn't need to spend the money on the higher DIN bindings...he could save some cash.

toe piece is plastic, heel is metal. 155's and 185's have and all metal toe piece too

ive got some weight and height on you. but the only bindings i will ski are FKS 155, 185, and 120. Or the PXXL 14 Race. (rossi SAS series too) (ide give a Jester a try, but so far no dice on those)

my PX 12s are a POS. they work, but in comparison to the bindings aforementioned, they are like comparing a toyota with a Lambo.

that said i would try and find an FKS 120 for you. or even the FKS 14s that just came out. But IDK if your weight, etc, would fit into a FKS14. IDK what the din range is...

I haven't had any problems with my px 12s. I've used them about 75 days or so, and the only thing I notice is that the heel is getting a bit loose in the track.

Luckily, they're on my ARVs, which will primarily be used for touring and the occasional park day.

yep. the track is a POS. thats why i would buy the Rossi SAS, or the PX Race bindings. metal in the heal. not to mention you have a worm screw in the track. and a shorter mounting platform. (better ski flex)

once you have skied a true high performance binding. you will never go back to the PX12.

my PX 12s were an ok purchase for when i bought them, but never again. I am seriously considering taking them off the skis they are mounted on (FS WRS) because the ski is way out of the bindings league. If i  can snag a pair of Pivots or FKS's over the summer i probably will.

My friend cracked the brake and the plastic piece under the brake of the binging within two weeks (he did a rodeo and landed fine) so i'd say stay away from them. Ohh he's about 120 pounds 5'7. I can tell you look px12 jibs have held up amazing for the past two years. I'm 5'11 190 pounds and give my bindings a beating. Sure there on the heavy side but common, it's not that bad. There still in amazing conditions other then the scratches and dings from my edges. So i hope that helps on your decision a little bit!

I wouldn't recommend Jesters for your height/weight. You simply do not need a 16 DIN binding and it's not worth risking your knees. I'd go for the Griffons. Though they are constructed from more plastic than the Jesters, they're still one of the most solid bindings I've ever skied. I've been really impressed with Marker's Royalty line and the Griffon has been no exception. Other people will tell you otherwise, but if you've been skiing on Nova 10's or whatever, it's going to be a landslide victory to the Griffons (and the Marker Royalty line as a whole) in terms of durability.

if your going cheap, px 12 or the dynastar jib version, if your gonna buy marker griffons, dont, they dont have a vertical toe height adjuster which fucks you over, i didnt read all the posts but have you looked into salomon? those things are good, i personally have sth 16's

http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/cart.asp Please i dont wanna hear another bum knee story, i blew out my acl last season and i was using a correct din (i think around 8 for 6ft 180 with a 326 bsl)  it still hurts constantly and is always going to.  you dont need ANYTHING more than what this binding will do. Getting a binding with a din 18 at your size is stupid unless you plan on beating jamie peierrs recod and riding away from it.  the fks 12 will be perfect, hella durable, light and will relese when it should.

so I got out on the marker bindings (jester style) for the first time a few days ago, and holy shit do they suck balls compared to my looks.

do your self a favor and get yourself a pair of p14s or p18s, nothing else even comes close.
