Wooden Rail

Ok so theres this sick urban rail in my neighbor hood and ive been dying to hit it all summer. its at a semi-mellow slant and about 6in wide and flat. BUT its made of wood! Is there any way i can hit this w/o catching an edge and faceplanting??? Ive seen people hit wooden jibs but never a handrail. +K for help. This would be epic to hit

if its really rough, i wouldnt, if its smooth wax it and you should be good.

Andrew Napier is actually pretty sick at wood rails... hit him up.
But for real, you can probably hit it as long as your edges are incredibly sharp....it'd be easiest if your edges weren't there at all

team usa JOSS and another JOSS team did one really sick one that seems similar to the one you described. so just pm wallisch... but dont. if you wax it it should work but like the guy above said, if its rough and you arent in the mood to faceplant dont try.

well the rail is mad smooth so it might be ok. sadly, my skis have edges. yo steve what is Andrew Napier's name on NS?

Yo when I hit wooden rails I like to keep my weight a little bit more on my front ski with pressure on the up hill edge of the down hill ski. The will lift the downhill edge of the down hill ski making it near impossible to catch.

If you're patient and a hard worker I would suggest sanding it. Once it's smooth just wax the fuck out of it and you'll be fine. I did a wooden down rail once and we put like a half inch of wax on it

rub tons of snow on it/keep it wet and pretzeling is maybe not a good idea. last year when it snowed a bunch i built ghetto jibs in the snow out of spare construction site 2x4s

just go for it and if you faceplant then you'll know its not safe.
but yeah just wax it really good. also if there its at much of an angle there's a good chance you won't. if its more flat it sounds risky

yeah it is, im hitting it this week. the rails not too steep but im gonna go for it anyways. the steps id fall onto are made of wood too so i guess it wont hurt as much as cement, right? haha

You can definitely do it man. Like someone said above, colder weather is crucial for ease. I wouldn't advise hitting a steep wooden dub kink like this though...

if its really cold you can pour water on the rail and it freezes and it slides very well but its pretty slick
