I don't think it'll change the safety protocol, I mean they already run each chair two extra laps just to be totally sure no one is stuck on it. And they don't hire any schmuck off the streets to operate the lifts without putting them though that protocol. I'm also positive this is why the industry hasn't already responded.

How much did Natasha Robertson's death affect people's use of helmets? I don't see a lot of drastic changes to helmet use policy at my local hills(but then again I'm unfortunately a canadian prairie skier, so nothing here can qualify as a major resort). The fact that the film is fiction and not fact will also reduce any possible damage to resort safety protocol.

If any of my facts are wrong, please feel free to correct me.

dude i hate getting stuck on chair lifts. one i got stuck right in the spray of a snowgun. i had about an inch or so of snow on me by the time the chairlift got going again.

I don't think it will really change anything, but the media I bet will be clamoring for more on-hill safety. The ski industry will no doubt speak out shortly regarding the implausibity of this film's premise. Even if it's just a horror film, it could pose a risk to some areas' bottom lines--especially resorts that cater almost exclusively to the gaper crowd. You'll see a NSAA press release before this film, you mark my words. By the way, Vail Resorts and Intrawest recently passed mandatory helmet rules for employees. It's debatable whether it was related to Natasha Richardson's death, but the media certainly tried to paint it that way.

2nd ever heard of cell phones? not that I think people should ski with them but really?
and what mountain closes for that long during peak season?
or you can just do like EDIAS and rail slide the whole cable all the way to the bottom.

I agree, but they somehow managed to do it in another movie, but I can't remember what it's called. All I remember is it's a few people treading water for probably hours trying to think up how to get back onto their boat and they kill each other, etc etc. It was stupid but they did drag it out for quite some time.

ok, so i just showed a room full of friends and we got it.

repunsle (sp?) take your clothes off and tie them together in a rope, tie it to the chair and climb down the makeshift rope to safety.

yes, totally true, and they have to send the guys at the top station down the lift so they can get home and not sleep in the lift. and theres no way a lifty would let skiers go up if those guys were already down. plus, patrol usually does sweep, so theyd definitley hear people screaming from the lift. and there are much easier ways to get off a chair than jumping

What I hate is when it starts rolling back at about a bazillion miles per hour and you get smashed to pieces.  Ouch :(

Getting stuck on a chair all night and having the people next to you end up eating you probably wouldnt be very fun either.

ha, beat me to it. So for everyone questioning the legitness of this movie, yes it's real and no it's not a joke. I simply avoid these problems by 1) not calling last run/ n ot getting on the chair at the end of the day when nobody else is, and 2) not riding a chairlift that looks like it was salvaged from the soviet union

Okay, so the liftie at the bottom station says "Last lift up". Shouldn't there be a lift operator at the top, who comes down using the lift when the mountain is that big in size? How could it be that the liftie wouldn't see those three, call bottom station "Hey, we still have people here." No more need for a film.

This looks to be absolutely hilarious. A woman fainted? Oh my. It must be like Paranormal Activity, which was reeeeaally scary and stuff.

While watching the trailer I was half-expecting that Samuel L. Jackson, Iron Man or Jack Sparrow from another Epic/Disaster/Scary movie would come up and say random shit. It was that bad.

You guys are making it seem like they just sit in dark the whole movie. The sun does come out you know. From what I've read its very possible to make a decent movie in the same spot, just like open water. Not saying this movie is going to be any good, it's possible, but most likely not.
