Just to get a hype train going, my friend is on the park crew there and says that Mt. Ellen will have a jump in the park when it opens Friday. Hopefully they will open up a lot more rails in there too.
i went today and it was a FUCKING JOKE. they got ABSOLUTELY NO SNOW. storm completely missed them. I have so much damn snow at my house and bush got NONE. GAAAH
I was there and it was great in the woods and some of the dirfts were insane. Its not that the storm didnt hit them its was that everything was blown off cuz the freeking wind. We went over near church and got first tracks way past our knees
Anyone know how the park is now? I know it's supposed to get better, but I want to know whether to stay at Mad River on Saturday/this weekend or to go to Sugarbush.
I'm pretty sure they set some stuff up on riemergasse, or however you spell it, but I'm not positive. But the "park" they have set up right is really gay. But I guess it's better than nothing. maybe
I went to north today, skiing was pretty icy except some spots in the woods. the upper "park" is very icy, so it'll blow if you fall. on riemergasse they have a 40' single barrel rail which is really fun, slides nice and there is a lot of snow because they are blowing right there. they also have a 10' up box directly to the front of a corrugated tube. the lower set up is pretty fun. every thing is still set up primarily for snowboarders, but it is still fun.
its still pretty icy so dont get your hopes, but it isnt terrible. there isnt really any sort of park on riemergasse, just a rail and a corrugated tube, but hopefully by friday they'll be semi-set up with a jump, i havent gone out yet today, ill let you know how it is
snow was about the same as yesterday, but about an inch of new snow since last night. good skiing in exterminator woods. park set up the same, still blowing
that rail better be there when i get back in less than two weeks (really starting to wish i had brought my skis back home for break) looks like the perfect something to try to learn fs swaps on. and 270 off... havent gotten a clean one all season
anyway, update from the site: "Riemergasse and Graduation closed temporarily for 'park building'...enjoy our new Terrain Park at Mt. Ellen this Saturday!"
Riemergasse and Graduation closed today to complete our 'park building'...enjoy our new terrain features at Mt. Ellen this Saturday...when the 'Upper Jump Line' premieres. Additional terrain features also at base area of Lincoln Peak and on Rim Run at M.E.
jumps and added features all over for saturday. somebody please, take pictures for anyone not able to go yet. or post video on ns, as my youtube and vimeo are shitting on me.
i was there today and they were shaping the upper jump line. looks sick. On graduation they had a banked box, flat box, short down rail, and a short flat box. the first flat box is somewhat skinny and long and real fun. cant wait till they finish those jumps.
im not positive. they were setting up a c box and some other box at the very top. then what looked like a step over, then another that was looking pretty big. and it looked like they had room for one or two more in the top section. not really sure.
Besides what they are building; they have a slant box, a 20' flat box, a down rail and a short flat box to a bit of a gap to landing. They were pretty fun
From their facebook page
stoked for the "slopstyle event" next weekend, any1 got any info on it?
So after a tough couple of days we do have the beginnings of our big parks at Mt. Ellen.
The
top half of reimergrasse is a down 24' box across from a down C Box,
that feeds into a drop down loading dock and right into the three pack
of jumps. The 36' Up Cannon and the 20' Vert wall should be the last
things in before th...e
reset for the Lower Rail Garden. There are also four Fun obstacles set
up on Graduation( the Reach Around). We will continue through the week
building and getting things ready for the Slopestyle event on Saturday.
I was up there yesterday and today, but I was only at North Saturday. They were still building the jump line, and it looked almost done (just smoothing some stuff out) and the shapes looked pretty sick. The rails/boxes were nothing special, similar to what is at the base of lincoln, and a c-box.
Saturday was windy as hell, but there was fresh tracks to be had in some of the trees off of northridge.
