Saying the conservative party is outdated is just rediculous. Most probably aren't racist as much as the next white middle class male and are not homophobic. Disagreeing with gay marriage does not make you homophobic. Take me for example, i do not agree with the agenda of homosexual people. Granted im not saying i hate them just dont agree with their views. Marriage by definition is a bond between MAN and WOMAN, not two people who love each other. This is why gays can get a civil union and if i were in power would change laws to make sure a couple who is bonded by civil union gets all the benefits of a married coupled. Also how a recent law passed in Almeida(sp?) california is making it mandatory for k-5 to read childrens books about gay penguins and have all this other transgender education because some kid was picked on for having homosexual parents. thats fucking bullshit.

you need to understand having certain views about touchy subjects does not mean a person is racist or homophobic, its their view on the situation.

That all depends on the fundamental way you view homosexuality.

I believe people have no choice in the matter and it is a genetic or birth given trait. Science and common sense back me up. If you talk to any gay person on this site you would probably agree with me.

So then you are discriminating against something a person cant change, like the color of their skin, or eye color. So when you are saying that you think that they should not be able to get married, and their differences should not be tolerated in school that is the same as saying that Mexican people shouldn't be able to get married, and they should not be shown in books.

You are a homophobe plain and simple, your fear is that by accepting the gay lifestyle you will turn gay and any kid exposed to this type of material will also turn gay when the reality is that if they see this material and decide that they are gay, they are gay and would have figured that out eventually. So generalizing about all conservative is pretty accurate regardless of how progressive you think you are still a bigot.

The problem is that some kids go through this weird time in life where they think they are gay. I know a girl who had a boyfriend in high school, then she said that she was always a lesbian and started dating this girl (more power to her, I could care less), and I just talked to her recently and she is engaged to this guy she met at college... wait, what?

do american republicans realize that nobody else on the planet agrees with them? and by that i mean an american republican is the furthest (modern) end of the conservative spectrum. example, the most conservative politician in canada is still more liberal than the most liberal politician in the USA. which is why anybody who has ever called Obama a communist or socialist is batshit insane. he's conservative by every standard except that of an american. and america is still the most conservative nation on the entire planet, and will probably stay that way for a very long time, judging from the opposition against Obama and his "liberal"/"socialist"/"communist" (actually considered mid-right by the rest of the planet) tendencies. it really makes you wonder whether americans know that the rest of the world HAS a political spectrum, or whether they simply ignore it and say "fuck it we do what we want".

Thats why they still haven't found a "gay gene" right. and being homophobic is the fear of gay people. I am not afraid of them or their lifestyle, just saying under the constitution marriage is a bond between man and woman, not man and man or woman and woman.

And they are spefically putting time aside for just transgender education, like they would for math or science. WHen you are that young they dont put aside time for african american or native american studies etc. So why are they so special?

Why are people so stupid? Blaming the republicans and supporting the democrats, or the other way around. They both are doing the same shit on the major issues.

As for gay marriage, I 100% support it. I'm not really a believer in marriage though. I don't see a point. I want to get a civil union with instead of a married. Or just have a life long girlfriend. (Are you allowed to get a civil union if you aren't gay? I don't really know the laws on that).

I just think marriage has bee so warped into religion and culture, I want nothing to do with it.

Interesting too that I come from a crazy religious/conservative family. I don't support either party in any way these days though. I can't respect either of them. So many bad policies. It's a shame people are so bent on trying to stick it to the other party, that they never really look at all the imperfections and similarities in their own parties. It also helps that the news usually sticks to the smaller topics on the surface, keeping the major issues out of sight out of mind

Would you harbor any of these opinions if this debate was against people who are born with multiple sclerosis? I am not indicating that being gay is in any way a disease but teaching kids to be tolerant and accept other peoples sexual orientation is far from brain washing.

As far as being born gay goes, there have been studies that show indication of a "gay gene" however there is no scientific consensus. This shows your fundamental lack of knowledge of the genome. Most interactions are very complex and involve several genes. Even with this knowledge it is still a percentage game on if the gene will cause a specific problem. For example one of the scientists who was instrumental in decoding the human genome has something like a 95% chance of being bald, however he has hair down to his mid back and very thick. Studies have also shown that in the case of identical twins, if one twin is gay the other has a 50% chance of being gay, for fraternal twins this drops to 10%. There have also been neurological studies to show differences between a straight and gay brain.

So basically it is not a choice and your warped conclusions on the subject are not only discriminatory but completely unfounded. Who would want to be gay, constantly judged and treated like a second class citizen. And I don't know what school you went to but from a very young age we learned about other cultures and people and how to be respectful to all people. We learned about sex in 5th grade, this is teaching that needs to happen early so we don't have another generation of hateful, misinformed people like yourself. I use to be the same way, however I used logic, reason, and talked to some homosexual people and I am just about 95% over my homophobia, and have pretty much accepted gay people. I still feel a little uncomfortable around them but this is my upbringing, for god sakes I still use the word fag about 40 times a day. It would have been a great benefit for me to learn this tolerance early and I would have been a better person from it.

^^^^^ It's a shame. It's like they think people wake up in the morning and decide thy want to be gay. With everything the way it is I can't see many people doing that if it was a choice. this is another stupid, ignorant generalization. It's ok though, if you go into a regular town in the US, you won't get such a high opinion of Europeans either. Sure, some Europeans don't think very highly of us, but that is only til they need our help. Take France for example, there are churches in Normandy that have stained glass windows depicting US paratroopers descending from the heavens. I'm not too concerned, there are plenty of Europeans who have high regards for this country.

meh I disagree about the cultured part. There are just as many out of their mind people in certain areas of Europe. I lived in Budapest for a while and some parts of that town seamed like the south, but with a Soviet block feel. There were definitively parts of Spain that had very stupid people. The stupid Americans just get more press.

And in my opinion the fat problem in the US is getting slowly better, its kind of like the restaurant that gets a health code violation becomes the cleanest one in town, even thought it still has that stigma of being the dirty one. Also if I am not mistaken I think Australia took the cake for fattest people recently.

On a side note I am considered obese if you go by my height and weight but I am in pretty good shape. So if someone called me on the phone I would be considered very overweight.
