Kinda of lame but.. I was at this shitty little resort back home and I was riding with this girl I wanted for a while and she got on the lift with me and the tip of my ski caught the ground and she got tossed off and face planted from like 10ft. I felt like a retard (and was like there goes anything I had going)  but she was cool with it and thought it was hilarious.  Long story shot It ended up working out for me and got a lay a couple days later.

I remember I was near the top of a lift with a super steep run out. The guy at the top gets off the lift but his backpack is somehow stuck to the chair. He ended up dangling from the chair by one arm holding onto his backpack strap for at least five minutes while the lifties ran around freaking out. They finally got a ladder set up so he didn't fall.

Another time I saw four people get on a lift: 2 little kids and 2 adults. Some how both of the adults, who weren't even sitting next to each other fell off, leaving the little kids on the lift. Both of the kids were screaming, so the lifties had to stop the lift, bring out the ladder and carry the kids off the chair.

Two years ago at my mountain some guy got his arm caught in the side of the chair, tried to get off, fell, got dragged around and missed the safety pole thing that stops it, and went off the edge of the station where it is about a 30 foot drop.  The only thing holding him up was his arm that was twisted the wrong way and broken.  Scary moment, especially since his like 9 year old daughter was standing at the top watching and crying.

I had a guy with me on the lift, looked a bit weird at the beginning. He kept talking about n00bish things to meh and suddenly stopped, staring down at the ground. The first thing he said after was ''FUCK goggles on the ground'' he then raised the bar and jumped without hesitation. He fell head first from the chair that was about 15 feet high to the icy bumps.

never seen someone fall off the lift but someone fell underneath me while our lift was stopped. got knocked unconcious had to life flight him out of there. scariest shit i've ever seen at my ski resort.

i was at a race and was riding up the lift with some buddies and on the lift infront of us were some of my team mates, this kid named andy who everyone hates straight up pushed this kid named carson right off the lift. fell like 20 ft and landed on mogles

Okay so I never really fell of the chairlift but it was a close call. I was waiting to get on the highspeed quad at my mountain (Bristol) so i thought it would be a good time for a snot rocket, im on the outside bent over blowing my nose right when the chair slams into me and i get pushed forward off the loading deck, so i quickly turn and jump and hold on the the seat of the chair while the lift keeps going up and up whiile my legs are dangling below me in the air, it was at the point where it starts gaining speed and im cliff hanging on the chair freaking out while my brother and other friend just sit there laughing really hard. Finally i pull my self up and turn my body around to sit down. then next run at the bottom the lift attendent called me the cliffhanger and had a good laugh.

a 4 year old girl fell off a lift on the last day. it was about a 30ft drop to flat ice. they had to stop the chairs because she was hanging on but the retards just stopped it right over the second highest point on the lift.

haha yeah we were skiing underneath a lift when we saw some little girl hangin off.. my body (snowboarder) went flyin to try to catch her and completely missed her and she fell off and dropped right next to him and completely destroyed her leg.. lets just say we made fun of him for forever

I fell from an old double chairlift when i was 8, broke my pelvis in 3 places and cracked my femur. needles to say, i was out that season. im 21 now and since then i havent fallen from any other chairs.
I did jump out of a chair once, I was gonna miss my run in a competition so i jumped and ran to the start through the woods

ah pretty funny one time i wa skiing in vt with 3 friends and one kid jumped of id say 20 feet or so onto like 6 feet of pow in a roped off area. a ski patrol comes flying down the mountain and starts yelling at him for being in a roped off zone. i dont know if he didnt see him jump off or hes just plain stupid

When I was like 14 I saw this little girl fall of the chair into the park 25+ feet below. It was so crazy and fortunately she didn't hurt herself.

I actually got pushed off a chairlift in tremblant by my instructor cos i floored him in front of alexis godbout in the queue for a lift earlier that week.

Literally the exact same thing happened to me last year except that the lifty managed to stop the chair just before i went over the drop off, and also my arm somehow didn't snap. It was ridiculous. In fact im pretty sure my friend who was there made a thread about it when it happened.

Anyway, never really seen anybody fall off a lift but last Sunday some girl fucked up trying to get on the lift at a mid station and was on it for a few feet before dropping a few feet to the bottom of the ramp. she was just embarrassed.

me and my friends do crazy shit on the chairs like if your alone we lie down on the chair, we hang from the bar, we see how long we can last standing up before we have to sit down on the chair and other stupid stuff like that

one time i went to go on the quad lift with me and 3 friends and some asshole decided to go on with us and for the whole time he was sitting on me. but i would have jumped off but he was sitting on me

I'm not sure how funny these are going to be but...

(1) when I was about 5, skiing at Eldora, my sister and mom were on the chair in front of me.  As we're coming up to the bullwheel, my sister manages to "hop" of early and fall into the net.  My mom freeks out not knowing what to do, so she thinks the next best thing is to jump down into the net after her.

(2) on a pretty massive powder day at A Basin, my boyfriend sitting next to me catches his tip right after sitting down and  off he goes.  They stop the lift to let him get back in line and on.  Meanwhile this guy in line is laughing his ass off.  Well, Karma's a bitch because he does the same thing when he gets on.

(3) a couple of seasons ago an awesome, but totally inept friend misses the turnoff at Breck and makes us ride Snowflake up.  He gets distracted looking at all the slopeside mansions and as the midpoint arrives  he's not ready for it, catches his skis, falls off, and the chair just plows right over him.  He gets up and shakes it off like nothing happened.

I was at the bottom of Centennial, Beaver Creek, and some kid falls off and they stopped the lift for like 30 minutes, but he was fine (fell into a powdery area)..

noobs on the lift in front of us andone of them somehow was able to fall off and land dangling upsidedown by his skis which were stuck perpendicular to the other people on the lifts skis

More than once bro. I've jumped off chairlifts many many times, it's fun stuff, and I swear some lifts were put in place specifically for people to jump off of them.

Where i sometimes ski there is a slow two man chairlift beside the high speed chair lift and on some saturdays the high speed wait is way to long and right above the Half pipe there is a spot where it iss only like 8 to 10 feet of the ground so lots of people used to jump that but i dont ski there when its busy anymore

I live at the closest mountain to any of the big cities so we used to get it a few times a year.  Now they have made the signs inside all of the chairlift stations so noone can fall anymore.  The ski patrol and lifites are pretty tight on it now.

I was a few chairs behind when this kid (only 7 on his first day skiing) fell from the chair right before the top lift station about 15 feet onto concrete.  He hit the ledge and scarped all of his face unrecognizable, broke his jaw, knocked out 18 of his teeth, broke both arms and legs and was air lifted away.  His first day skiing came up as a day trip with his family.  My friends little sister was on the chair behind (only 5) had to watch it all and then sit there for 30mins while they helped him and stoped the chair. The ledge is still blood stained so scary to watch.

So a couple of years ago, i was at my local mountain and one of the lifts broke down, this particular lift is right in the middle of the woods, so there's bushes and rocks and trees and such on the ground, i got off the lift, and about 2 seconds later it shut down, it was stuck for about 45 minutes and a few of my friends were on it. there were some asian gapers in front of them and they kept talking about jumping. All of a sudden the asians both jump from about 25 feet and land in the bushes and rocks below, one got up but the ski patrol had to help the other one cause he was stuck in a bush.

Moral of the story, stupid asian gapers.

Haha that happened in vail at the bottom of blue sky...hysterical. the photog who took the pic mighta lost his job over it i forget, but the pic made it onto the smoking gun. lifties forgot to put the seat down after some pow and the dude just fell through somehow

I was with these two kids who only skied a few times, they are brothers, and I was with my brother, so there was four of us. We're getting on a 4 person lift, and me and my brother get on, one of the other kids get on, and then his brother somehow ends up sitting on his lap. So he falls off (like a 8ft drop) and drags his brother off, and almost drags my brother off but we stay on. They didn't even stop the lift.

Night skiing a few years ago a chick fell off the lift right infront of me into a cliff section and broke her arm. I suckked i was stuck on the lift for like 45 min waiting for paramedics to come help her.

i Hate when they stop the chair it doesnt accomplish anything maybe stop it until ski parteol get there so that they can control how close the skiers get but like say the daughter falls rifght beside her dad nad the lift stops so the dad just has to cghill there feeeling usless watching his daughter in pain

alright story time


Grade 5: Kirby for school ski club watched some girl on a lift go up and they couldnt get the bar down she reached for it and slipped hung from the chair for 15s then fell from probably 30-40ft straight down and  broke both her legs and a rib or two
she couldnt move and the chair was closed for like 1-2 hours.

Last Year, instructing and two stories

1) younger group and kid said he could go on the chair himself so i went with him once or twice and let him do it to show me but stayed there just incase, this was on the bunny hill. these kids could rip so then we moved to a bigger chair and he said he could go by himself and he showed me he could so he went and the chair came around and hit the kid in the back of the legs and picked him up and threw him 5 feet. his dad was right there and watched it.... but it was all good

2) next one was a private lesson with a young kid, shorter so i helped him on and he was learning to get off the chair by himself, so we were at the top and he asked if he could i said yes and i asked if he knew when to jump, he says yes and then jumped a little too early, luckily he landed just before the platform and he was short enough that the chair just went right over him and never hit him. but he was pretty shook up

Years ago at Mount Snow this little girl fell from the highest spot on the summit express, 60+ feet atleast. She apparently slipped off when she was getting on but her mom was able to grab her and they didn't stop the lift until three towers later. So there was her mom holding onto this girl at the highest point of the lift and she was unable to pull her back up. She held her there for a while and then all of a sudden she fell. Scariest thing I've seen. Everyone in the lift line was crying and gasping thinking she died but apparently she only suffered a broken leg and something else but I don't remember.

On a lighter note on the same lift my friend is (or I should say was) obsessed with trying set off those alarms that they have after you get on if your ski is too low. Well one time it was set up just at about snow level due new snow that fell the night before. Sure enough he gets as close as he can without falling off and the next thing I know he isn't there. I look back and there he is with is ski sticking in the snow and him about five feet farther.

my friends and i ski at ski bowl and the lifts r only like 10ft off the ground so we would always wait till we had gapers behind us then we would push each other off and the gapers would freak out and yell for ski patrol fun stuff thinking we were hurt haha
