I too would like to know about MSU as well.

bridger is real fun. everywhere i have been in montana for skiing has been awesome. great terrain and NO LINES. bridger has cheap tickets too.

i go to msu. its a great school and has even better skiing. Bridger is pretty good im not personally a fan but alot of my friends ride there just because its close and you can get half days with class in the morning or afternoon. i usually go to big sky or moonlight which are only 45mins away so loads of good times there. there is also a free bus that leaves from campus to bigsky/moonlight which is awesome if you dont have a car!

I also go to MSU and it is a super sick school. I have only ridden Bridger once and it was alright but I like Big Sky a hell of a lot more. Like the dude said above there is a free bus which is super sick and you can sleep on it in the mournings. The campus is also sick, surrounded by mountains and what not.

You didn't ask for dorm recommendations but if you do end up going here I recommend Roskie, North or South hedges...in that order.

I'm a freshman here right now.  It's super chill.  I would definitely classify it as BROzeman MANtana.  But everyone here is pretty rad; bunch of stoners and ski bums with a few cowboys and football players mixed in.  I'm in the Civil Eng. program and so far it's been alright.  The core class list that's required for most majors is kind of shitty and I'm definitely sick of it but from here on out it looks good.  From what I hear freshman and sophomore year are the hardest.  But I'm liking it a lot for sure.  Had some of the best runs of my life already and I'm coming from AK.

Advice: Get in Roskie or North Hedges dorm.  If you ski park, get a Moonlight pass.  If you like girls, become a nurse.  And get your med card ASAP.

OP if you're looking to get a 1860 so that you can get the WUE I wouldn't worry about it too much just come close. I got a 1830 and got accepted and they offered the WUE. I am a senior this year, I'm not sure whether or not I want to go to MSU though. I'll either be at MSU or at WWU. Bozeman was pretty rad though.

the other thing to think about is that you have to keep a 3.0 for WUE.  Now that might now sound too tough but I was nearly a straight A student in HS and haven't really changed my study habits but that 3.0 is damn hard to get.. just my two cents.

more advice: if money's an issue, get in-state.

I paid 320 for Bridger.  Moonlight's more but still reasonable.  Big Sky was too much for me to think about if I read it correctly.

im also looking into msu. how are bridger and big sky as far as terrain? steeps/bumps/pow all of the good stuff. i have no interest in park whatsoever, whats the best mountain around?

i'm accepted and toured it about a month ago. Bozeman is such a sick town. Right now I'd say it's my second choice school, behind the University of Denver

i couldn't tell you personally, but a bunch of my dudes from high school go there and love it. plus, if you got any game you won't have to worry about lack of girlies. they just keep it real and haven't heard them complain

Hey. I go to MSU and I live in the Quads. They're not bad for smart, quiet kids, but if I had a chance to do it again, I would definitely get on an OP floor at Roskie. Most of my kick ass friends live there.

im a sophmore at msu bozeman. i can address school related questions through pm if you want, so feel free to drop me one.

as far as skiing.

big sky. yes it is the most expensive pass, but IMO it is well worth it. Big Sky is HUGE and has really good variety. steeps, trees, a pretty decent park, all around good variety. because it is the biggest of the 3, its really easy to find stashes of pow well after a storm. in my opinion its the best resort of the 3, but thats all personal choice.


moonlight. pretty sweet. definitely the best park in terms of jibs, though they do sometimes get OVERLY tech with features (see like butter box takeoff to flat box to down corrugated tube). they have some better jumps this year, but from what i hear still not THAT great. i havent made it over this year because my collarbone exploded, but i have buddies who ride there. they also have some gnar terrain of the headwaters, and the north summit snowfield, and some good trees and stuff. however its significantly smaller than big sky. its also COLD. its on the north side of lone peak, so it doesnt get the sun as well. finally, its EMPTY. and i dont mean a good empty/uncrowded like big sky, i mean i feel weird when i ride there. there will be days where i will only see 10 other people the whole day, that may be for you, but for me i feel weirdly alone, and am not a big fan.

bridger. first of all, go scope tgr for more info, i know theres a bunch of mags who ride there. some of the most tech "inbounds" stuff in the US. the ridge has big cliffs, super tech narrow chutes, basically any big mountain dudes dream. not to mention access to some really sick sidecountry/backcountry. though the problem is that its often populated by idiots who dont have beacons, no knowledge, etc. some kid set off a massive slide on saddle peak a few weeks ago that were really lucky didnt kill anyone, and it was easily avoidable. cons of bridger would be, almost no park whatsoever, and it gets BUSY. honestly on the days slushmans opens, within hours its pretty tracked out. also ive heard from some friends that some dudes will be kind of dicks if you arent a patagonia wearing granola munching dude, but i wouldnt worry about that much, theres douchers at every resort.

each resort has its merits, but what i do is pay for a big sky pass, and then spend a day or two at moonlight or bridger, since their day passes are cheaper.


oh and forgot to mention, theres a free bus from bozeman to bs/moonlight, but as far as i know not to bridger. so if you dont have a car, thats another added benifit.
