What the fuck? This isnt fucking funny. Its just 2 people with the IQ of a 10 year old fighting... its just another movie with the plot of "some people who are old act like they're retarded/much younger and do immature things."
The acting is fucking horrible, and Will Ferrel has been going downhill since he started.

Yeah i know im a year or 2 late but seriously. what the fuck? The only part of this movie worth watching is the 30 seconds with Seth Rogan in it... and even then its ruined by a fucking fart joke... cmon...


How can so many people honestly recommend this shit?

what wasn't funny about Step Brothers? I tried and I couldn't find any part of that movie that isn't at least a little bit funny.

Im the opposite when it comes to Anchorman. It was hilarious when i first saw it and then after seeing more of Will Ferrel in other, worse movies, i realized that its basically the same shit except i wasnt used to it at the time. Hes whoring out this horrifically stale idea with his comedy and its really starting to get old.
Plus anchorman was just a much better movie all around... and actually does have some mildly quotable lines. Stepbrothers straight up sucked...


But then again the amount of hate im getting for this seems about right, considering that the movie was made to appeal to slightly retarded 14 year olds.

How is that amusing at all? its not comedy, its fucking retarded. the whole movie relies on stupid scenes like that with Will Ferrell saying stupid shit. that's all the movie is.

This is also coming from the kid who also thought his weed was laced. I actually thought it was somewhat funny because it was random and I like that random funny type of stuff. However, a lot of my friends find stand up and shit like Dane Cook hilarious but I have never once thought stand up was funny. It's all planned out. Spontaneous humor is way more funny to me because that's how I am and most of my friends are. If it comes to mind I just say it and fit turns out being funny.

haha wow man it's a movie chill the fack out.

it's a comedy. it was made to make the majority it's target audience laugh and thats what it did. Will Ferrell is a funny actor and has made a lot of great movies, along with some not-so-great ones. The movie's plot is not important, a freakin 6 year old could've come up with the plot "two 40 year old guys move in together when they become step-brothers, and they hate each other." the plot is a guideline which leaves Will Ferrell and John Reilly (had to look his name up haha) to make people laugh, and thats what they do for the most part. Some people think it's a funny movie and some don't but there is no need to hate on it so much.

thats just my opinion.

A comedy can be really funny and not necessarily be "smart", but a comedy doesn't need to be fucking braindead to be funny. This movie was braindead. It was shit.

Eh, Step Brothers was funny, but people were on it's dick like it was the best thing since sliced bread.  It was funny, but it wasn't THAT funny, just like Talladega Nights wasn't THAT funny.  They had their moments, but they were not the best movies ever...

i cant stand it anymore, but like most ferrel movies, the first time through i found it hilarious and after sitting through it a few more times i cant stand it

I actually agree with OP for once. Can't stand this movie after the first time I saw it. First time I saw it I thought it was ok, but then it got quoted to death and I watched it again and just can't stand it.

if u did not like anchorman, old school, taledega nights or any other will ferrel movie then OF COURSE you WILL NOT like Step Brothers. Its will ferrel style of comedy......personally I thought there were too many punch lines in the movie and it was that awesome, but its all opinion. However, if you really think Anchorman was bad then you really have no idea.....the character of Ron Burgandy was by far one of the best characters anyone has ever played in a comedy- there is so much random creativity to that character and yes its random but it comes together well enough to make some sense b/c there are people out there that are actually like that. Most of you young kiddies do not have enough life experience to understand some of these films even though they are so retarded- i know people that still live at home in their 30s, act like complete self-centered assholes (anchorman), etc.........enough to make movies like these that much better.
