Change the name of Gear Talk to Outerwear Fashion Tips

This is getting ridiculous. Half the threads in Gear Talk are about what tall tee you should wear or "I'm 5'5 will a xxl magic suit look steezy?" Gear Talk used to be full of good info on ski gear and now its gone down the crapper. Even though there still is some good info in there.

Stop worrying about how cool you look and start focusing on your skiing. It really doesn't matter what you wear because no matter what some people will love it and others will hate it. Have your own opinion. Do you need the approval of 100s of kids on your normal clothes too?
Thats all for my rant this has been bugging me for awhile.

NS has never been the site for gear advice. Somehow TGR is much better.

TGR is great for big mountain and backcountry stuff, but this place used to be super helpful to all kinds of freestyle gear questions..... i hope we can get it back


but there are people on here that continue to give great advice and help each other out. Keep it up

I think everyone who goes to register has to take a basic reading test.

The best way to discourage threads like that is to not even look at them..

Gear Talk is getting ridiculous. It used to be one of my favorite forums to peruse through but now it is all threads like "What Jacket would go steezaliciously with these pants?!?" or "ZOMG where do I get a magic suit that matches my bindings?!"

im in gear talk all the time and seriously, there are a few of those "choose my outerwear for this year" threads, but right now, a lot more are along the lines of "i need new skis this year" and "which one of these skis are better for me" type of threads

most of these actually have intelligent, well thought out answers and good advice to the thread creator.

I dunno I see a ton of those types of threads. Also I hardly see any well thought out, intelligent answers to boots/bindings/ski questions. Just mostly uninformed opinion based answers on a topic that they know nothing about. Not that I know very much or help out a lot. Just saying, most answers are pretty bad.

I think in the end of the day. who really cares. so ns gets congested with a few threads like that. just ignore them. If you really have something good to say to them (and by good i don't mean smart ass) then say it. Other than that they will eventually realize that they were stupid when there going down their mountain switch and are unable to see what's coming because there magic suit is so big that they can't look around it. But still in the end of the day. Just ignore them.
