so me and my band played our first gig last night. we played a small cafe in hartford, connecticut. it was hot shit. there were a bunch of bands playing and we were the first. a little through our set, our friend john came up and sung, then flowed with us. the crowd dug it. when the second band started, everyone stopped paying attention and walking in and out and talking. we even got another gig at a university nearby, from a guy who was there. what's the best way to go about getting a lot of shows?

Start putting on your own music events. It costs money though, and you usually end up losing alot. But you could talk to some of the bars about doing a show. That or get your demo out there, and if you dont suck, people will ask you to play.

these kids at my old school used someones house as a way to get their music out there...they sent out flyers around the school and everything and it got them noticed by a lot of local kids. seemed like a good idea to me, and it didnt cost them anything

i'm in a band too. when we started we played some gigs and some other band we played with once thought we were good so they invited us more often to play with them. now that we are a little more known we just walk around bars and ask for gigs together with other local bands. it works pretty fine if you know other bands well

That was scary as fuck.
