I hate it when cts talk ahit about soccer, sure football players can make big hits, but althettically soccers players can run circles aound them. No other sport in the world can generate fans like soccer. Stadium Azteca in Mexico city is lterraly huge and no other sport can compare. I mean come on, how can a sport that was created off a bunch men kicking a decapatated head around on field not be hard core. SO next time you talk shit about the most popular sport in the WORLD, yes the WORLD try and back it up cause i guarntee you cant.

PS- I dont even play soccer but respect it. And im drunk so sorry about the typing errors if there are any.

I agree with every aspect of this thread including being drunk. The only thing I can say after playing soccer for all my life, try heading a fifty yard punt. Shit's scary I don't any other sport that does that... with their head

but seriously, the only 2 team sports i pay ANY attention to anymore are english soccer and college football...nothing else really interests me that much

EVERY soccor player says this. "It's the most popular sport in the world" Yeah it is, thanks to countries that are too poor to play any other sport with equipment. Anyway US sucks at soccor. There are these three Spanish foreign exchange students who are at my school for two months. I talked to them and they say they are very good here and the best on the team, but back home they are pretty bad. Im not saying that soccor is gay or anything, just that the only reason it's the most popular sport in the world is due to the other countries, not America in which all of them play soccor.

soccer is waiting for a kid who's a freak athlete to pick up a soccer ball rather than a football/basketball. i dont see it being that far away that the US has the best player in the world. Imagine if lebron played soccer from a young age and not basketball (im not saying it would be a guarantee that he'd rip shit up but its just an example). America has the best athletes in the world and it's only a matter of time until one of them turns to soccer

i hate soccer simply because when it is watched, unless it is an important or a close game, it is boring as shit to watch. just because it is popular, does not mean that people cant have negative opinions on it, and you dont need to back up opinions with facts.

soccer has also been around much longer than football. i know football players that are much faster than any soccer player i have ever met. try running circles around jahvid best (current cal runningback who scored 5 TD's yesterday). id like to see chirstiano ronaldo try to guard him or even make an attempt at tackling him. soccer players wouldn't be able to handle jack shit that football players go through during training and even gametime.

just imagine a 300 pound object covered in hard plastic and metal, and his objective is to fuck YOU up. keep in mind that this 300 pound object is a human and can run a 4.5 forty yard dash. so much tougher than kicking a ball around and you can't even try to debate that. yeah sure you need a fuckload of precision and technique and practice to be good at soccer, but you need a ballsack and no fear to kill it in football on top of all that athletic ability.

and it's not the cheapest sport in the world...that's swimming, you dont even need clothes

real sport eh? soccer is more "real" of a sport than football or baseball. half of a football and baseball game is just advertising between breaks and calls. have you ever noticed that every american sport has repetitive breaks and stoppage of plays? thats all because it gives people room to advertise. why don't football players stop being pussies and play a full continuous game of football? oh yeah, theres already a game for that, and its called rugby, another good nonamerican sport.

Football is dependent on size and strength, soccer is dependent on skill and quickness. I doubt that a 300 pound football player has to have a lot of balls to tackle a 200lb running back. But on the other hand, it takes a lot of balls to use your HEAD to hit a ball flying 60 yards in the air, knowing that if you miss by a little bit you're fucked. THe two sports are completely different. They can't really compare. That being said, skiing and mountain biking take more balls than all team sports combined.

i used to play soccer and i was pretty good and then i played football and it was way harder. imagine if you are that 200 pound runningback who is trying to run over or juke an athletic and agile 300 pound dude. headers aren't that fucking hard i used to score on predominantly headers when i played. its much harder to catch a punt thats knuckleballed or even get used to catching kicks with your pads on.

yea, play as a goalkeeper. I know its not the main part of playing soccer, but i'd say playing in goal is one of the harder things to do in sports.

I've played both too. What you said goes back to what I said earlier. Football is more about strength and size than refined skill. I'd like to see a lineman play a game of soccer and actually make it through the whole thing.

plz, re-born yourself in argentina and you'll understand what a real passion is!!! There isn't such thing as "soccer" as youy guys call it in the states.....The real name is FOOTBALL worldwide ( or Futbol in spanish)...When there is a match going on, and its shown on TV even the poor people forget about hunger and such IMPORTANT problems just because football is what makes them most happy, and they feel united......Its a passion worldwide which i think its never going equaled by any other sport (RUGBY caused a huge sensation last world cup)....so as the thread says, before talkin shit about "SOCCER" just state your reasons because living in a country in which soccer is not given a huge attention doesn't give you the right to do it....If you dont like it OK, its your opinion and i respect it....but dont talk if you know nothing about it...finally, i assure you that if i took you to a RIVER PLATE vs BOCA JUNIORS match in ARGENTINA you would understand "SOCCER" and all the sensations involved.

sory if it was too long, SOCCER is the greates thing in world and when somebody talks about it im concerned...

All sports have their merits. Some people dont like soccer, some people love it. I dont enjoy watching it but i enjoy playing it. Its not a "bad" sport. Its all subjective.


Also, arguing that soccer is "good" because its the most popular sport in the world is fucking retarded. 90% of the Earth's population believe in an invisible magic man in the sky but that doesn't make it a good idea to do so.

the kids who played soccer at my school were pretty much the skinny kids who wore D&G and spiked their hair. not that iwasn't friends with a couple of those guys, but yeah, it was a team of guidos.

thats the problem with soccer teams these days. most of them are douchebags. I played on one like that and hated it because it was all somewhat rich kids who were assholes. I much prefer going to play in a pick up league where the majority of the players are mid aged brazilians and europeans with no refs.
Down and dirty, and as eric cantona says...your skills have to do, all the talking. there is no ref to hide behind.

funniest thing is that these guys work from 5-6 as landscapers each day, then play soccer from 10-1am. And every break they get during the pick up games they go out and smoke a few cigarettes. Yet these guys are amongst the best i've played with

your just full of points that dont make sense. if you want to look at it that way, id like to see any soccer player play running back for a whole game, and actually make it. I played football (QB) until i fucked my shoulder up big time. to stay in shape i played football, which was pretty anti-hardcore. you slide tackle someone and they fall down, your kicked out. i couldnt play the last 4 games because i was playing too rough for the sport or some shit, yeah soccers real hardcore alright. im not that fast and have no footskills i would kick the ball down field and just run through kids basically and then score. either that or get cards thrown at me because i touched a kid and he jumped to teh ground and pretended to cry. cool sport alright.

Baseball players are the people who tried every other sport but couldn't compete in them without taking steroids. american football is one of the most pointless sports ever..... and i've played on a football team before. I now play on a soccer team and it's way more fun, and more organized, and more focused on strategy than it is on brute force.

so your telling me that soccer is not pointless? i dont understand how football could be pointless but soccer not? and the the last half, thats all opinion (more fun more organized more focused on strategy) and your opinion is wrong. why do soccer players feel the need to prove that their sport is better than others? its not. football is all about strategy and organization, maybe not in pee-wee or whatever but same thing in soccer. soccer players always say that their preseason and shit is harder, that it has more running. well technically cross country has more running, so i guess thats the more hardcore sport out there! i just dont get some people somtimes.

Professional, televised soccer is an embarrassment to the great sport of soccer(or football, if you're not from Canada/US).

America does NOT have the best athletes in the world at everything. The americans are good, but there are tons of sports in which the US can't hold a candle to anyone else. The US gets slayed in soccer, track and field, and SKIING regularly.

Who won X-games pipe? I believe he was FRENCH.

Who won slopestyle? I'm pretty sure it was a CANADIAN.

Who SHOULD have won big air? NOT Simon.

Don't get cocky people, because when you do you have to back it up.

I play football for my school and our team in the past couple of years has not been so good so we just get shit on.  But truly i hate it when the soccer or any sport for that reason says that football is this and that. At my school  the football team practices for a good hour longer than any other sport.  we work our asses off hitting, running, and blocking, i wanna see some soccer player do what we do.
