I fucking hate them. 

I'm being denied residency because some fucking beureaucrats made the decision that me and my mom's "intent" to live in Colorado and establish domicile wasn't "clear" and obvious because my mom didn't register her car from California in Colorado until after the 6 feet of snow melted off of her car.  She fucking parked it and didn't drive it all winter.  How can you decide what another person's intent is anyways?  We gave clear proof of being in Colorado, way to screw your fellow citizens you money hungry bureaucrats.

There are policies about registering your car in state before being declared an actual resident.  You didnt follow them.  You lose.

Dude its bullshit, i came to vermont in 2001, went to UVM for 2 1/2 years and then dropped out.  I then stayed in VT without assistance from my parents, got a full time job (with a vermont company) which i still have 5 years later, i have vt plates, liscense, and pay vermont taxes for 5 years but they still denied me instate tuition when i tried to re-apply.  I had to write 2 appeal letters and eventually yell at the woman in charge in the middle of the financial offices, after 3 months of fighting they finally caved and i am a vermont resident.  Keep pestering them and appealing persistence pays off.

yeah man, I've been dealing with this for the past month.  both my mom and I have both had to resort to yelling at them on two separate occassions and we're both huge pessimists and don't believe iin thos sort of confrontations.  my last words for them before walking away today were "fuck bureaucrats" and I turned my back. 

I have to finish out the semester now since the add/drop date for classes already passed so if I droped out I'd still have to pay 75% of the tuition.  I'm just going to finish out the semester and take the spring semester off and work at Snowmass Ski instructing again and try to find another job on top of that since I can't petition for spring semester either because the technicality they got us on was her license and car registration which she didn't register until April, which is the end of 2nd semester. 

Looking on the bright side, at least I'll get a lot of skiing in this year.

^i think you mean "pacifists"....that's pretty lame though I didn't have any trouble with CO but like was said before keep pushing, if they let all the Mexicans stay in CO illegally how can they deny a citizen.

lol, yeah, i meant pacifists.

but they don't let illegal aliens get instate tuition.  there's nothing else i can do. they flatly told me that.  "it's the law and we have to follow that" is what they told me.

no, CSU.  I got denied once, came back with even MORE evidence, got denied again and came back with MORE evidence again and got denied again.

ahhh now i understand why your process is much more difficult than that of a lowly ski bum.  Yeah I can see why they would fight it since it's a difference of thousands of dollars, but It's the state that's fucking you not the school though correct

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or what but  yes, it's the school being forced to follow state laws.  It's a difference of $20,000 actually and my family can't pay that.

no sarcasm, the ski bum im refering to is myself.  Both of the guys i live with in Edwards went to CSU and loved it, Ft Collins is a cool town, especially if you like herb.  Plus the rams beat CU last week.  Goodluck with that shit I hope it works out.  If you miss the cutoff for the semester do a year at the closest community college and shred it up

I really didnt read the whole thread.  Of course they arent going to let you pay them less money with in state tuition.  Colleges are just money hungry cash cows too.  The most you can do is file an appeal, and get that car registered.
