Rockered ski sizing

so i already pmed iggy but i want some opinions

im 5 10, 150 pounds and id consider myself to be a pretty good skier, i used to race and whatnot

so anyway im buying caylors and was wondering

191

or

181

ive never had rockered skis but i guess they ski pretty short?

If your 5'10, get 191's for sure.

I'm only 5 ft and I'm on 185 ep's.

i am almost 6 feet tall and i am getting 181 reno rockers.

with really rockerd skis onl a small surface area stays on the snow when it is flat. so its a matter of how much extra length on the ski you want. any size is good for you. Personal prefence.

Im looking to get a pair of 222 skis, 18cm rocker in the front and back
we sized them up at 180
should i go longer now that i'm hearing this?

im 5'8ish and my LL2's are 179 and could be a little longer, especially with the center mount. go for the 191

if you're using the caylors to jib in the pow go 181
if you really wanting them for charging and stomping big stuff go 191

I imagine both sizes would work out just fine, but it really makes a difference on what you intend to use them for. When I rode the caylors, I rode 191s, but I'm 6'3"...

Well 18cm is actually on the much lesser end compared to other rockers

i agree. the caylors are already stable skis, so the extra length wouldn't help THAT much.

I met a lady that was no more than 5' on 189 bents.  Another lady of similar hiehgt(bit taller, but looked really light) was on EP Pros and told me she also had bents.  Rockered skis ski soo short(if they have real rocker, Caylors do).

You don't need 191, Scott is right. At 191 they're quite a bit of ski, they aren't floppy. 181 is plenty for most. I'm 6'2 220 and could ski the 181s.

theres a great article in powder magazine a year or two ago that mcconkey wrote about rockered ski sizing.

he basically said for a mini-rockered ski get your regular ski length and for a full rockered ski you can get 5cm-10cm longer that your regular ski length.  i think.  anyone feel free to correct me.

Hard and fast rules like that are just stupid though, and the Caylor proves it. I ski ~190s usually in just about any ski, and the 191 caylor despite not being 5-10cm long is plenty of ski for me. You have to take it on a case by case basis. If you follow formulas you're just deluding yourself.

You could ski both sizes at your height.  My concern is your weight.  150lbs is not heavy, and the 191cm caylor is a lot to throw around unless you spend all of your time in open spaces.

That is why I think the 181cm ski is better.

I generally like to go longer with rockered skis. I'm 5'8" and ride 189s no problem. They ski as if they're 179s. You'll be fine going longer. It will put hair on your chest haha

Oops i forgot so sorry on the double post.

i'm 6' 3-4" and roughly 145-150lbs and ride EP pros.  i do fine even though i wish they came a lot longer. they don't even ski terribly short for me.  if i could chose though i wish they made the ep in like a 193 or even 200

You mean mm, no way you have a 7 inch rocker. 

Definitely do the 181s, If I remember correctly, Scott mentioned that the skis measured on the long side, so definitely do 181.  Especially if you are in the trees or plan on throwing a spin bigger than 180.  I am 5'6" and have 169 Hellbents, which is roughly 174, and they are great, every once in awhile, I wish I had 179s, but the chances of me being able to throw those around are not too high.  You will be satisfied either way, but do 181.

you have that backwards. you get skis 10 cm longer when they're rockered to compensate for the reduced surface area in contact with the ground.

I think it depends on where you will be skiing...around Spokane, I would think you should lean toward the shorter side.  Regardless, I think the 181's would be plenty of ski for 95% of what you could be doing given your size.
