opinionated posts\threads have been yoinked down whenever conflicting with moderators views recently, and it's ridiculous.

if any thread\post is a little 'radical'(not obscene) it will be taken down fairly quickly...where's the free speech assholes...or is this just the 'happy' forum, well...if you can't accept that there IS negativity that's going to be posted you have no business moderating. why don't you go visit a peace forum maaaaaaaaan.

haha, this whole thread is rediculous. I'm with the mods on this one, having been one on a different site a while ago. I know it's not fun. You need to get over the fact that one stupid thread was deleted. There have been so many dumb threads that obviously don't contribute to this website, and they are deleted for that reason. Like I said, get over it! They deleted it for a reason.

this is not an issue of free speech regarding saying the word 'nigger' and\or 'cunt'

this is an issue of not being able to speak freely in terms of all aspects of skiing. the fact of the matter is, this whole thread is routed in the act of YOU the mods taking down threads that were speaking unkindly about H30 films.

threads\posts that point out that taking shots of skiers that don't know they're being filmed and then using those shots in a movie you are making, without their concent is ridiculous.

this isn't about free speech, it's about you super heros learning to focus your 'deleting rays' on better canidates...like threads about shaving pubic hair in the 'non-ski gabber,' which is a MUCH busier forum, and therefore would need much more 'thining' out of nonsense threads. learn.

is it unfair for me to have a negative opinion?

^I feel bad for you. Not because you're an idiot(which you are, btw), but because you're completely clueless, which is different. 99% of threads that get deleted get deleted for valid reasons. Reasons that you couldn't possibly understand, and that I didn't understand until someone explained it to me.

Basically, this site can cause the entire ski industry/world a whole lot of shit in about 15 minutes, give or take 14 or so. Stuff that gets deleted gets deleted for a reason, period. Unless you have even the vaguest clue of what you're up against, stop posting in this thread.

You're bitter. You might even have a point. The only problem is, it doesn't matter. Give it up. If it pisses you off that much, leave. There is no such thing as 'free speech' on NS, and that's that.

Regardless of whether you think patcole is right or wrong, I think he's making a stand for what is right. Mods do the best we can, sometimes we fuck up, most of the time we're right. Sometimes it comes down to opinion- por ejemplo, I don't think that an entire thread dedicated to pointlessly ripping someone deserves to be on the boards, whereas I probably wouldn't delete a thread on shaving pubic hair. Enough said.

All I have to say to the people complaining about censorship is QUITCHERBITCHIN. I have never had a post deleted unless I asked for it to be deleted. You're posts and threads will only be deleted when you do dumb shit.

i agree that targeting particular people in a hatefull way is not cool, but as long as the shit aint porn or has some sorta legal shit goign on with it why bother taking it down, and let the moderators do there job, who cares if they abuse it abit, nearly every1 with power has abused it in some way or another, and these guys arnt abusing there power in any major way, they cant possibly abuse there power in a major way, unless they are in with politics in a big way

If any of you have read the book 1984 this whole mod thing sounds like 'Big brother' haha. theres probally a video camera looking at me right now watching every letter i type.

So.... on a different note... how do you become a mod. Its probally based on how many posts you got and how active you are. Or do you gotta be a friend of an NS administator?

The site owners ask you to become a mod, or you may get recommended by another mod.
I have been one for over a year now, and I only delete posts/threads if they are obscene or offensive. I have had to become a lot more liberal, and not delete everything I personally deem offensive. Chances are, if I find it really bad, so will other people. The only difference is that we can delete offensive things for the betterment of the site. We wouldn't delete things just because we don't like a person, there has to be a reason and some responsibility behind it.
