I would not live in North Dakota sounds dreadful. Or Iowa or any midwest besides illinois.

I would live in any western state besides new mexico or arizona. Or id live in Hawaii which would be sick

NY has lakes, the Adirondacks, crazy city, the Ocean, an ok amount of snow, plus close proximity to VT and Canada. States like Nebraska and Kansas have nothing except corn, bad smells, chain stores, faces of meth, and asshole schools

actually idaho doesnt really make that many potatoes, least not around where i live. and skiing is alright. cept one of our only good resorts just went bankrupt but the skiing community around here gets by just fine. :]

its fun here, we have everything you want within 50 miles of the city. our ski resort is 16 miles from downtown boise we have a huge lake about 20 miles out of town, the downtown night life is sick. waterparks malls. rivers, there is never nothing to do here. and the seasons are perfect cold and yet nice in the winter and hot but not fricken frying in the summer.

surf, snorkel, paddlesurf, mtb, longboarding, and skiing(look it up, its there) not to mention hot chicks, yeah hawaii sucks.

why would everyone go there for vacation if it sucked?

People go there for vacation because they live in even shittier areas like the Midwest or East.  Hawaii has some killer MTB though.  A friend of mine came from Hawaii and his freeride crew was ridiculous, they had a gnarly fucking park too.  His buddy got POD on Pinkbike three times.  Hawaii just does not have a lifestyle I would like to live.  My Mom lived there for about a year, said it was cool for awhile, then you realize it's five hours to California and you're stuck on a fucking island.  You feel pretty isolated.  People go to New York for vacation, would I live there?  Not a chance in hell.  Vacation spots are not always practical places to live either.  In some cases they are, in most they are not.  If I manage a Hertz rental car branch, a place like Hawaii would be a VERY ideal place, because no one can drive there.  This thread is so full of bias though.  a bunch of teenagers cannot say this state is better, because they have no taxes or living to pay for.  Plus, no one has actually been a resident of all 50 states.  Super biased thread, I don't like it.

OKLAHOMA thread over. Lived in Tulsa for 4 months horrible place because of the people and the geography. Texas also sucks dick mainly because of the people. Not a huge fan of any of the "southern" states.

How has NOBODY! said Michigan yet? I mean, i live here and all..and i absoluty love this place, i love the scenery everwhere i go,the beaches,the awesome sports teams,the warm weather in summer,the snowy winters and Mt. Bohemia.

But the economic situation is just pathetic. The Unemployment rate currently is at 12.7%, the highest in the country. With the crash of the US car industry, Michigans largest populated city, Detriot, has been majorly effected because of how much it was based off of car manufacturing. Not only Detriot, but our whole state relied on the car industry. And many car manufacturing plants have moved either out of our country, or our of our state. On the topic of Detriot, glorious city right? Wrong. D-Town has the highest crime rate out of all the cities in the U.S. Also, the 12th fattest city in the U.S. Many people are leaving this state in search of jobs and new opportunities. Our roads are majorly jacked, and our governor doesnt give paychecks to repave them. And in the winter, many public roads are left unpaved. The overall experience of Michigan is just bad, to say the least.

Yup i love Connecticut.  After college I'm coming right back.  I dont get how people can say it is one of the last places they would want to live.  If you live by the water it's one of the best places to live.  We get a little snow; not much, but it's enough to hit some rails and it's only about 2 and a half hours to vermont and there are a few small ski areas around here. 

But yeah the states I would least want to live in are southern ones....but my number 1 is Arizona.  FUCK ARIZONA. There is nothing good about Arizona.

Michigan is pretty sweet if you live on the west side from like Saugatuck and north. I live in GH, and we got boyne at 3.5 hours away, and cburg has a pretty decent park. Nubs Nob has a huge rail yard.

Beyond that, we have lots of great hiking areas, low cost of living (but high unemployment), obviously boating is big here, and if you have the money to dump in it...

I think Michigan is hated on too much.

Also Michigans biggest downside is the muggy temps in summer.

We have...no earthquakes, tornados of any real destruction or size, massive faults below us. We have no alligators, large population of poisoneous snakes, and minimal spider problems.

Plus we have GRR as an airport or Chicago / Detroit. We have a generous enough winter most years I think for Michigan. Some people have the advantage of driving to snow and not living in snowy areas. But I can't imagine living in a place where it dumps all the time and you have to actually get to work.
