Replying to Places to live in Calgary

I just got a job in Calgary so it looks like I'll be moving out there next year... but I don't know the city or the housing market very well. I'd probably be getting there in may. The place I'm working at is in the Bankers Hall East tower (9th avenue & 2nd street) and I'll be there a ton, especially the first year. So I want something close by, probably a 1 bedroom apartment or studio. What are some good options? Connaught? What can I expect to pay / where?
