Soooo, I am turning into a HUGE nerd(go ahead, make fun) and I am thinking about getting into this game....

Does anyone on here play?

I used to play, quite a while ago. Just sold all of my shit for bank earlier this year. Anyways... starting out I reccomend you get one of their starter sets (unless you have a specific army in mind to play with) http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020048&prodId=prod1570027 is their current set. And it's quite a bargain compared to buying that shit seperately. You probably save 50%~ at least. After that you can start buying based on what type of games you want to play (theres set limits on how many pts u can use and what types of models you can use for each type of fight) and also your personal playstyle. idk what you were really asking, so if I didn't hit what you were looking for, just ask something specific

i used to, i didnt get that into it since its a pretty expensive game to play. i spent more time painting my army than i did putting thought about what to buy to make a really strong army. i had a few friends who were pretty into it though and they really liked it. id have to say the only bad things about warhammer 40k is its really expensive to play properly (ie you apparently HAVE to own a rulebook, then you obviously need your army's codec, and then not to mention have at least a 500 point army, which is going to cost quite a bit, and then your paints, brushes, etc) a bunch of my friends spent a hundred on their armies. if you have the money and time id say go for it, i had alot of fun playing and collecting my army.

That is actually what the guys at my game shop told me to get, then just find someone online who has the set but wants the other half of it and make a trade.

As for what i want, i do like space marines, but i am also liking the chaos ones. and the necrons. and the tau. and dark eldar.

For just starting out, what is the best playing style that suits noobs best?

i had imperial guard catchans (sp?), worst army to start out with, trying to roll a 5+ for armor save is next to impossible..... but for a starter army id say space marines would be your best bet, regardless of chaos space marines or just the regular, they are very good all around. im not sure about necrons though, not many of my friends used them, they were pretty new when i was playing, and i dont even know what to say about the tau, i just happened to walk into the games workshop i used to buy my shit from when they were comming out and so i really have no idea other than they look sick

I agree with space marines as well. Fairly simple customization on troops, and armor saves are easy as shit, especially if you go with that starter set and get terminators. Just realize that it's expensive before you start playing. Not after. haha

No, it's like a tactical/strategy game you play on a board. WoW is an rpg you play on computer.

I didnt like playing or anything like that...i thought it was too complicated and i didnt have the money, but i did get some tau from a friend for free and they were really fun to paint.

so no i didnt play. it was just fun to paint.

Yeah probably. I actually just started playing Warhammer Online and it's pretty similar to WoW. The major difference is that the game revolves around PvP where as WoW is a PvE game.
