Well... its that time of the year again!

Winter has basically come to a close for most of us, and site traffic is winding down from our blazing peaks of 2009.

What this means is that nopoles and some of his new ninja recruits (there's rumours of a mini-nopoles clone) are getting their code on.

We've got a pretty good idea of some of the things we want to see get tweaked on the site, and we've looked at a ton of your suggestions. I wanted to put this thread up to hear everything and anything you guys would like to suggest!

A "favorites" feature for videos and pictures. Have it be another section in your profile to show what you think is dope on NS.

A searchbar for inside of cults! I've heard this is a tedious and hard task, but I want it done!

People should SPELLCHECK their thread titles...hehe

These are merely suggestion and things that would make NS just that much better:

1. Being able to select multiple threads under "my threads" tab (sort of like a check like thing beside each thread, kind of like e-mail have beside them) thus you would be able to delete more than one thread without having to refresh each time.

2. Search further back than 50 thread, please it would be very helpful sometimes, trying to find older content.

3. Clean up the front page, especially the blogs, but everything seems to cluttered and flashy, but not doubt you already have this one on you list.

I'll no doubt remember some more later.

searching back farther than 50 threads, and a message delete button? and the threads button under profile that shows your threads you have made, i would love if it showed every thread youve made instead of just the ones active within the last 30 days. yea that list would be long but i think it might be kinda neat if it wasnt too hard to code...

What if you could pick out your region. This way you could go right to your state's forum when you clicked on regionals. I don't like clicking regionals, and then scrolling down to Washington. This would streamline going from forum to forum.

I have thought of this, it would be really nice, but I just put my regional in my bookmark bar.

I know there were other things I wanted to see, but I can't think of the m right now.  I just wanted to say that i definitely DO NOT want an edit/delete post button.  It's annoying enough when you see that the mods have deleted something and want to know what was so bad, I can't imagine what NS would be like if every member could just hit delete when they made stupid posts (probably EMPTY).

I also am not in favor of being able to delete your own threads.  We would've lost threads about giving our friends boners along with many other epic NS classics with this feature.

Since Ashley put up exactly what I was going to say I'll add this...

I'd like to be able to find any thread I've ever made and be able to delete them from my view, much like "My Threads." I post some useful info from time to time but sadly I tend to forget my titles as they are generally random.

all "first!", "second!!", and "third!" posts should:

1) Be automatically bumped down the list of replies/comments when a legit post/comment is made
2) Be turned into random facts from the logout screen
3) Turn the poster's name invisible for a period of time
4) Insta-ban for a day

Pick 1, or mix and match. Also, the rule is to be ignored when replying to a stupid thread where the first post is less interesting/meaningful than the words "first!", "second!", or "third!".

i dont care how many times this has been posted, but GET RID OF THE AXE COMMERCIAL BEFORE EVERY VIDEO, it is so annoying, i dont watch the vid if it has it because i dont feel like sitting through it

Delete any account unused for more than a year, obviously if they've left it for a year they don't care and can always make a new one, that way names can be recycled.

1) Make our avatars/icons larger? Not huge, but maybe like 75 by 75 pixels? or 100? beats me. I just think it would be cooler with larger icons, although that would probably use up more bandwidth than we want? Making the actual file size larger would probably have to happen, which could help a bunch too!

2) I made a thread talking about this, putting the forums or pictures in some sort of flash? Or some html code where the replies to a post will come up without having to refresh... Or even being notified about a message without having to refresh? call me lazy, but i think it would be a nice addition. For the photos section, would you guys be able to sort of do what facebook has? where if you press on the picture, or press the left/right keyboard buttons, the picture changes without having to completely reload the page? This would help a lot, and i would actually look through way more pictures. If that's too much code to handle, can you atleast make it so when you press the Next button, the page stays scrolled down? its a pain to always have to scroll back down for every picture....

Also, recently, facebook has added a feature to the home page where if you're on it, and something new happens, it says show (x) new posts. So, again, you could maybe do this to the forums? I don't know, i just think it's neat and time consuming.

3) BRING BACK QUICK CHAT! There have been numerous threads about this. The older members remember how fun and jokes quick chat was, and we're still upset it was taken away. SO PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

4) This is minor but maybe change the font in the reply to thread box? I feel like we can use a nicer font than this coding font, but it's no biggie.

5) Allow members to have albums. So let's say I were to go to someone's profile, then click pictures, maybe they could have albums there so you could check them out like that? Pinkbike has this and I find it easier to view certain pictures.

As for the don't-do's// Please don't allow people to have pictures in their signatures. This would clutter up the forum like a muhfucka. No emoticons as well. I remember nopoles asked us a while back if we wanted, and everyone said no, so just incase you guys were reconsidereing, I'm pretty sure everyone is still against that idea.

I really like this idea. Being able to just press the side arrow to navigate through the photos would be a wonderful addition.

MUCH better for laptop users.

Faster photo viewing would greatly increasing traffic to that section, it would be so great to able to to flick through photos faster. Something flash, maybe one of the simpleviewer photo viewers work very nicely although i am not sure how you would integrate that with the site.

To your comment about icons needing to be bigger, i feel like that would just increase the annoyance coming from flashy icons, they are big enough to be able to differentiate from others but i feel there is no need to go bigger.

Meh on that, no biggie. How long do you actually stay on one page before you're refreshing again? I do hate that you lose your PMs with someone after a year though. So annoying.

-costumizable quick links
-i like the size of the icons and the font. it keeps it simple and compact.
-no more double pits to chesty. there's got to be other companies that will pay just as much to have their ad before a movie.
-bigger box for creating/replying to threads. when i insert a pic and its really big then its a pain in the ass to view the rest of my post.

ok derek here we go:
1) the bigger icons might be a bit intrusive but maybe a small change could be ok
2)the thing like they have on facebook where it tells you how many new posts would be sick and wouldn't require as much coding (as far as i know...) than putting the whole page of threads on flash auto updates
I really want the keyboard thing through pictures though that would be amazing
3)i never got to see quick chat since i'm a n00b but I WANT IT!!!
4) unfortunately different fonts would be confusing to read unless it was standard for everyone, maybe instead in My NS you could choose a font to view the whole site in.
5)Albums would be great for organization and ease in finding pictures

Also want: Searchbar in cults, being able to go past just 50 previous threads, perhaps a smaller number of ads on videos for $50 contributers or something but eliminating them all-together would be rediculous

JUST THOUGHT OF THIS:

Okay so i just thought of this idea, i logged in right away and this is basically me just witting out my thoughts, but hear me out. So currently we have our search bar...it does its job, but i tend to find a vary large population either misspell thread titles, or have random titles that don't necessarily best describe what the thread will entail. What i propose is when someone creates a thread there is another section they must fill out called tags. For those who know the term, sort of like metatags. Anyways if people could add like 4 or 5 tags entailed to keywords describing the topic of their thread and then the searchbar was reorganized to take into account these keywords instead of its current system i think a tagging system would allow for stronger searching while being more accurate and helpful. I might point out AGAIN the usefullness of being able to go further back then 50 entries, to get back at say an older thread as many...MANY threads are made and often older ones expose details not discussed in newer ones.
So thats my idea, in short: make a user spend an extra 30 seconds adding tags and enhance the searchbar to take into account these keywords.

Your thoughts?

To counter, we have a plethora of members that cannot make meaningful thread titles, or post threads within the proper sections. If we can't get this monumentally easy task down pat first, there is little hope in getting the same lazy members to add tags to their threads.

I do however think it is a unique and good idea. I am just uncertain of the feasibility of it here on NS.

If there was a more standardized method of making thread titles I don't think this would be a problem. Instead of having the thread creator make his or her own title There would be options of FS, FT, WTB, then a list of companies and types of products such as
skis
boots
bindings
pants
jacket
helmet
goggles
misc
etc.
i think this would help lot with the searchbar problem as it would make searching for what you want much easier.

Only works for B/S/T, which for the most part are accurately titled already. That format would not work for SG, NSG or any other area of the forums.

I guess I really don't mind "reposts" either, as I've caught some really cool things that were "reposted" a bunch of times. People saying searchbar and repost are just saying that to feel important and like they accomplished something.

Also whats with the NS.com gathering all different blogs, like i understand what it is doing, by why overshadow others who are actually writing content. Maybe put it somewhere else on the front page if its all blogs together instead of always taking up a spot under blogs.
