Spoiled west skiers

ha west skiers dont know how good they have it. theyy get the pow, bigger mountains, ski later in the year, less crowded etc. east skiers might as well put on ice skates, theres lil mountains, huge lines, and season ends soooo early

what you say is true though, east skiers have more passion than west coast skiers. Growing up we'd drive almost 3 hours every weekend to tremblant where it's icey, super cold and the park is balls. Here in bc people will only drive the measly hour and a bit it takes to get to whistler if they have perfect conditions... sad

I live in Colorado dude, and I agree with you as far as some people go, but I personally I'm always thinking about skiing, and genuinely love it, pow or not, so thats not always true. But it is funny how we have skiing until June -July out here and it seems no one cares too much, and how EC kids would kill to have that. Whatever, I love skiing, and personally I'm going to try to get up to A Bay this year as much as possible.

dude, i live in Nebraska, i have to leave my state every weekend to ski sure, its an hour a way but my hill is literally the size of any bigger resorts bunny slopes

if you are making generalizations about which has more passion then maybe you are meeting the wrong people.  i can go to any resort in utah and find people of all ages loving the sport.  alta and snowbird alone host an entire history of skiers who are still killing it.  in addition, i don't think i have ever met someone who is just skiing to say they ski.  to anyone making these assumptions, i invite you to come out west and prove me wrong.

its true. when i was a little kid my coach was telling me about the Aspen race team getting DESTROYED at mad river glen.  plus kids that ski in the east are so used to skiing on shit they get reallyyy good. like wallisch, like pittsburg? not much snow...or anything else there

i dont think that. based on the edits you and your friends put up, and the posivitivity you bring to local resorts and events in the regional forums, i think that your passion for the sport is very high.

damn dude, you dont know me. Im from the midwest, I quit bitching and moved. Im for sure not spoiled. I ski as much as I can because I can. I do really shitty jobs to by my passes (yes passes) Go to class every day at college (except pow days). I hike the backcountry after the lifts stop turning, I drive hours to get to lifts that are still turning. Get some motivation man, move, take a road trip, build a set up in the back yard. But dont bitch like a little kid on newschoolers.

I'm pretty sure I have to ski on a HILL worst than the op's mountain.  We have like 6 runs, one small and shitty park that is alllllll ride on rails and no jumps.  We have one chairlift and one t-bar and the hill is infested with gapers and snowboarders.  Honestly, I'm nowhere near the greatest skiier around but I'm somehow prob the 4th best at my hill most of the time..I feel like I'm at a snowboard haven and I'm out of placeee there

finally someone understands. and no person has the right to form a false stereotype for west coast skiers. in this thread people are just assuming that all west coast kids are spoiled and dont care for shit. thats false. i do whatever i can to ski. buy my own shit. and hike as much as possible. however that does suck for the shit snow on the east. but that does in no way mean that just because you have it worse you appreciate the mountains more.

nah man definately gets... kinda chilly in the west (whistler and downward... alaska is pretty fuckin cold) but during the day its usually not that cold... i skied in a competition (young guns where LJ won) at avila and it was -42, during the day while sunny out... probably even colder at night, everything was sheer ice. West coast skiers get the filet mignon of snow, i can personally say that you WILL get twice as good at skiing if you move out west, I got tricks I wouldnt even dream of getting this year just cause its so easy to be super confident with the conditions you have out here that you can just throw yourself around and know your edges arent gonna slip out on takeoff and your nott gonna eat shit on the skating rink below.

i know how good i have it, its the reason i moved to the mountains, stop complaining and do something about it...though i wouldnt say we are free of lift lines, breck has more visitors per year than anywhere in the world.

quit your bitching. my hill closed march 15th. and it has 3 chairlifts with 300ft of vert.

but we do have a rope tow and that kicks ass for the park.

not to mention we had something like 30 days below zero this winter.

true, my home "hill" in wisconsin was 211 veet, and it was god awful.  we couldn't have jumps because of insurance reasons, and we had 2 rails that couldn't have jumps onto them.
