EA skiing game

First off, This isn't a thread asking why we don't have a skiing video game. My friend's dad works for EA and he is a pretty important person. He gets hundreds of ideas for video games each week. But I asked my friend if he would talk to his dad about a skiing game and he said he would, but not without some good ideas first. So, I thought I would let you guys throw some ideas in here and I would organize them and then give them to my friends dad.

gonna have to disagree with the above poster. there should defs be a pow level or two, but with cliffs and booters (chads, pyramid, etc). or you could make three separate storylines- pow, park, and pipe

o and have a throwback level, and have like Plake, Mosley, Rapps, and other pros who were in ski movie one

They say that the physics in shaun white are the same as skate, but the gay thing about shuan white is that the only off axis tricks you can do are rodeo 3s 7s ect no fives or 900, and corks.

O and like tony hawk, u should have to chose your grabs, and buy your grabs, because honestly, not everybody in big comps can do Octo grabs, or what not. But I could be wrong with my statement, but i dont think a beginer in a game should be able to do the biggest and best grabs right off, or else when they see big pros do them in x-games or whatever they wont appriciate them as much

you should be abil to join crews and costomize your grabs so that after you grab you can tweak it and there should definitally be a ton of ways to costomize your character and when you cet pro you should be abilt to make your own pro modle cloths and you should not just have to spin and do unrealistic tricks to beat the game you should definitally be graded on style too and it should be hard to do the tricks

i agree, and like amped 3 where you're locked into certain tricks.

part of the difficulty of skate is having an open axis and trying to land off axis tricks, although i hope a ski game would have somewhat more leeway for doing corks etc.
needs lincoln loops too...
almost exactly like skate otherwise.

btw, i think there was a thread awhile ago where some guy met some game designers from ea at whistler and they said they were working on a new snow sports game
i don't know what happened to the thread, but if anybody has any information on that/knows what i'm talking about, post it up!

i havnt played skate, but make it like skate by the sounds of it

i would want
-it to be realistic with tricks/grabs etc, not like ssx!
-have two modes, a carrer mode, where you need to learn everything from new, but make easy tricks easier to learn, and harder tricks like doubles, harder... also have just a freeride mode, where you can do all the tricks, play each level, comp etc etc just for fun... we all like just playing for fun rather than always doing carreer

for career, have all the events, from an am, you gota do well in like small local events, be able to like make an edit and approach sponsors, and progress... then when you turn pro you go through xgames, dew tour, nippon, all those events would be sick! also, i reckon itd be sick once your pro to do film shoots, where you have to like stomp a trick infront of the cameras as like a objective.. and build up your whole segment as the whole objective! would be sick

levels have to be all major resorts, including snow park nz!!!! clothes and goggles and skis have to also be real, if they can get the copyrights, but im sure ski companies would kill for that sorta promotions!

be able to have a character of any age height gender all that shit

fuck this would be fun! sorry i rote a small essay

i like the first person option someone came up with.
and for grinds it should be lining it up like most games now, not hitting a button, unless its some sorta rollerblade grind or something tech.

I know alot of ppl say do it like skate and i agree. but thing is features are much different for skateboards then lfor skis. Like there wont be mga ramps to quarter pipes.

I say make it like Shaun Whites snow boarding except less confusing controls. dont know if anyone said that cuz i didnt read the thread but there's my 2 cents

have gapers in it that roll over the jumps, cut you off, destroy the jumps to the rails by going off the side of them, and have them ask stupid ass questions from the Gaper quotes thread and other various gaper like activities

different camera angles, i like the follow cam in skate but it gets annoying sometimes. i think a first person view would be dope as well as a close follow cam styled one like skate and also a zoomed out one so you can see the surroundings and features.

Unlike Shuan White snowboarding, slow it down just a little bit. That game is too fast paced in order to get the actual feel of the trick, and throw in some slow-mo if your doing a sick gap. PUT CHADS GAP IN!!!!!!!! and make that slow-mo lol.

Making the game just like skate would be so dope. I think everyone would agree that skate is the best game ever. Just imagine skiing tricks. fuck! I think the market is out there, and it should happen sometime in the near future.

I hope skiing doesn't become the "cool" thing to do and a bunch of people start doing it just because they saw it on TV

anyway even though i don't play video games i think this game should have park shoots, big mtn pipe slope and big air comps, urban, chads gap, pro skiers, tanner hall yelling he broke his ankles when he cases jumps, scott vail, and afterbang

word. grabs with triggers. tweaks/corks with right stick. spin/flip with left stick.
my best idea:
SLEDS
think about it. it would be like a minigame with a purpose. you can tear up the BC on a sled, doing tricks and shit if you want, trying to scope out a good kicker zone. think how fun that would be. you could build whatever you want, where ever you want. complete freedom. i think their should be a few mtns with basically just park, and the rest should be sled accessed BC. helicopters only later. because if you think about it, most pro's cant afford any bird time early on. and we need the Red Bull Cold Rush.

Shaun White was THE worst game I've ever played.  Apmed 2 (NOT 3) was the closest to real feeling shred game made so far.

It should be like Skate 2.  Hell I'm a snowboarder so let me put it from my view.

Make a game where you have to travel with your crew all around the country.  There can be a few famous rail cities where you and your crew go and hit up different handrails and spots.

Have like 10 mountains and make the park and physics real.  In Shaun White there wasn't even a fucking jump onto rails.  The rails were just chilling on the hill. 

In Shaun White the jumps didn't have landings.  So unrealistic and the sloppy mehcnical controls made it even worse.

Basically have actual park runs with real features and actual cities with real handrails that have REAL physics.  None of this cartoony arcade bullshit.Z

Make a snowboard and ski game or both combined even.

There is definitely a market. Remember that gapers would also buy the game. They could do iron cross helicopters and such . I think that most 10-25 year old people that ski would buy this game even if they are not hardcore park skiers.

if they are worried about marketing just tell them that you could have it with snowboarders too so it would attract to everyone

other than that just skate, but with snow and two sticks and just have basic sick grabs with a tweak button

The parks at each mountain should re-calibrate every so often.

"Butter" Stick

as you progress you can gradually spin faster, more rail inclined, inverts etc.

trampoline, water ramps, summer rail sessions or NZ should be options should there be an offseason!

if any company finaly makes a game, its going to have to be ski and snowboard. this way they can reach a huge market. It would be like amped or shawn whites market+ the skiing maket for barely any more work. but none of the catagories ( ski or snowboard) should lack in quality

EA already made SSX on tour, so they should already have some basics as to what skiing should be like, but that was really not good enough.

If they made it anything like Skate, I'd probably buy whatever system it came out on just to be able to play it. I still play on tour, even though it kinda sucks.

I don't know if people remember, but Enlighter was making a game last year or the year before. Anyone know what was going on with that? Because he had a forum going and a legit plan happening for that game, and I think it's still in progress. EA should team up with him, since he has all these ideas in one spot. I joined that group too and invited all sorts of friends.

hills - all the popular ones and have a design ur own park and hill feature.
tricks - first try for all the common ski ones. (spins, flips, corked, rails.)
character - have all the big name pros and be able to unlock more pros the father u get. and a have a design ur own pro feature
skis - i dunno if u would be allowed to use the name of other company but if u could then all
there ill skis or create ur own
clothing - same concept for skis ( big company names or make ur own)

try to make it as in-depth and customizable as possible

from choosing what you look like having tons of different brands of jackets, hoodies and what not (jiberish, saga, oakley, LDC etc.)

Choosing your skis (cover as many brands as possible)

Choosing your style (no poles or poles, whether your the park afterbanging guy or the big mtn powder slayer kinda guy)

Just make it as detailed as possible, comps like the dewtour and xgames and hell even be able to be sponsored by certain companies and enter superunknown and film with certain companies like Level 1 and work your way to be the top dawg in the skiing world!
