Anything that involves shipping something to West Africa just does not seem legit to me.

This is def a scam. I respond to all of those now "I will mail you a bag of dog shit if you try to scam me again." Usually shuts them up. I have yet to actually have to do it.

West Africa is loaded with internet scammers.  Dateline actually did a special called "To Catch an Identity Thief" where they actually went to west africa looking for some of these guys.

This is 100% fake.

As soon as someone mentions Africa in any reply to a sale, ignore them.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY GIVE YOU MONEY FIRST.

They will send you a check for $280 and it will go through and deposit the money into your bank. 2 weeks later, your bank is going to call you and tell you that the check was phony and they will take the money out of your account.


Usually scammers are really stupid. They have terrible spelling and grammatical errors and refer to what your selling as "an item." They are never personalized.

There is a thread exactly like this on TGR. Find it there is more good info. Theres also a link to a website that scams the scammers and they try to make the scammers do certain things. They got one of the scammers to join a fake cult and random stuff like that. There is also the p-p-powerbook scam, which is possibly one of the greatest stories known to man.

Do you see a trend? These are ones I've gotten from Craigslist.
