there are way too many threads about center mounting ski's, I dont have anything against that, I myself have had 4 pairs of skis and have always center mounted. The problem is when people take a ski that has been engineered by professionals for years to have a good flex ratio at a certain point on the ski and mount on a different point. ok 2cm's more or less isnt a big deal but when were talking about center mounting ski's that were made to be 6cm's back it starts getting rediculous! If you want to center mount your skis... buy skis that are made to be centered. I know the general answer from people who do this is going to be: " but mine are center mounted and their the funnest thing I have ever ski'd" you probably havnt tried mounting suggested because you would laugh at yourself. bassicaly apart from this thread being a rant, next time you think about center mounting your Arg's or your prophet 130s, read this thread before other people have to tell you. the end
so many people try to centermount skis that aren't meant to be mounted there. any park ski it's fine but a pow ski that's made for charging is not meant to be put at center
charging skis should never be mounted center, everyone knows that. most kids on here mount their pow skis center or close to it because they will be jibbing on them
that was the thing. the skis are symmetrical (to the guy above me, yes they are supposed to be mounted at true center) so i didnt want to mess with the ski since it was supposed to be mounted at center, but i didnt want to mount it at center...
yah well the thing is that it remais suggested center, which means you have the freedom to mount where you want, 2cms will affect your flex ever so slightly so nothings wrong with that, at 6 however, remember your taking away 6 cms from the back and putting it to the front. that means its 6 cms harder to inniciate turns, and 6cm harder to clear your tails from your carve. that is a 12 cms of difference which translates to a lot of pounds of unnecessary resistance
i was stupid when i got my skis because i used to be a racer and i got my park skis while racing
so my skis are mounted 5-6 cm back.... haven't had too much trouble so far, but if i do anything bigger than a 540 like a 7 or 9 it throws me off because the momentum of the skis aren't balanced.
but since its mounted back mute grabs and any crossing of the skis looks sick and im actually balanced when i cross my skis... they are a real annoyance on rails though especially when trying to do tricks like hippie killers
i agree tons of people out there go out and mount non symetrical skis center. and the other way around. the only reason for center mount is for going switch and rails. If you take lets say a pair of salomon suspects and mount them canter, thats not where their balance point is and it will be harder on rails and harder to ski because your not i the balance point of your skis. Now if you bought a pair of volkl walls or disorderlys then you have to mount them center. (the only expection is for the walls, if you dont ride park and ride all mtn, then you can mount them 2 back at the most)
anyone can do rails and spins on an unsymmetrical ski.
i have seen a kid throw down on straight skis.
the only reason for mounting center, is to have more tail to land switch.
searchbar was not an option, I know threads like this exist... I felt I needed to make a new one since recently there have been more people doing this.
Thank you! Just like the thread creator said, if it doesn't belong at center, it shouldn't be at center. However, I have Hellbents at core center even though that is 5cm? ahead of suggested. I have skied Hellbents at both spots and core center is much better IMO. Also Pep and Andy ride them at core center, so chances are the ski is built to be mounted there. Sorry, that was kinda random.
same. I personally like the feel of center mounted, no matter what ski it is. and i actually like the feel of a non-symmetric ski centered versus a symmetrical ski because the tails are less hooky, at least in my experience. Let people do what they want. Even though I still stand by my other post of mounting a symmetrical ski anywhere but center.
Wrong. This thread is retarded, skis engage at different pressures/times when you change mounting. Seth mounts his Obsethed's +5, which is 2 back from center. If he doesn't charge I don't know who does.
I have Hellbents, and they are +4, or 3.5cm back from center and i love them. they still land switch in pow uber well, but it doesnt sacrafice float or how they feel when not riding switch. plus they charge like a bat outa hell.
I usually mount my skis at recommended, my pipecleaners rip shit up at armada recommended.. and my anthems kill at center(really the only option but whatever). Core center is the way to go for me.. I figure that the company who made the ski put a little research into where that line on the ski goes.
