End sexism in contests

I had a great idea just now. Girls and guys skiing has been seperated in terms of skill for a long time. Something needs to be done to get it on the right track! Soooooooooo, END THE SEXISM! Instead of X-games girls and guys events, lets combine em! That way, for like, superpipe, no more girls and guys events, just one big ski superpipe event.

Obviously, the girls arent goingto be going as high or doing as great tricks, so something like a handicap would be imposed on the guys so that the girls have a real chance against Tanner. But wouldnt that be cool?!?! A girl could beat out Dumont for the overall pipe contest and we could show the rest of the world that our sport is the lone one where gender doesnt make a difference!

Yeah whoever tries the hardest should win... Oh wait thats still the guys. Mens competition isn't getting stale. Guys are constantly pushing themselves learing double flips, double grabs and even shifties etc and what are girls doing "large and in charge 7's".

They're not as aggresive. different center of gravity. spatial skills. but the biggest thing im guessing is aggresiveness and adrenaline and willing to push yourself to the breaking point.

yes and no. when you get to high levels of skiing, it can get quite physical. but its pure power, not endurance. a jump takes a ton of strength released really fast, similar to sprinting.

weight can go either way, if its fat, then its not doing much good. but muscle weighs more than fat, so thats another story. also, weight makes you go faster which can sometimes help. just my 2 cents

One time the Italian soccerclub Perugia wanted to have female players on their squad. It never happend.

I sense that it would be the same thing, everyone would wonder why a girl doing a sketchy sw 5s would beat TJ or Håtveit in slopestyle. It would only be parodic.

That food looks like something gourmet, and there are lots of men who are some of the best gourmet chefs out there. So yeah... Just putting that out there for no reason.

i have a perfect idea for the handicap. first they should have judges on the tables of every jump and then when the girls go off they can call the spin they are doing and the grab. oh and this would be against the men of course.

(i.e sw cork 12 tailgrab) its the perfect alternative

giving them a "handicap" penalizes the men who should be the ones winning. men can do good tricks with style and get big air (these categories also encompass what our sport is judged on) girls cannot. girls hit the small jumps and go 1- 2 feet out of the pipe with wack style.

but if your going to end sexism, why do we ave to girls a handicap? if they wanna be treated equal then they get scored the same way, and we beat the shit out of them and they go back to making sammiches

I don't even understand the logistics behind this idea...
Take a serious second to think about the whole thing and realize how ridiculous it is. Picture it: mixed competition, and the guy throws a cork ten, loses to chick who spun a 7 because of his handicap... Who really should have won? That's what i thought.

And i highly doubt that chicks think to themselves "hm, if all i need to do is throw a five to win, then that's all i'll ever learn to do" We don't need to up competition in order to up motivation, that's retarded. If you wanna get better, you do. that's the only way it works.

Props!  ..and right on.  May your Karma runneth over.  This is where Gender should not even play a role.  Progression should happen regardless of plumbing.  There is no reason why a girl shouldn't be able to do corks and spins that are as flithy as anything a guy can do.  ^^^  If chicks want to take their stuff to the level of what the guys are doing, it will happen.  This is a sport where strength to weight is not as much of a factor; and one of the few where the average guy doesn't walk up with a significant advantage over a girl.  Let in happen as it will.  The last thing you want to do is slow the progression by making it easier for chicks to place higher in comps.  That would be selling them way short.

True that. But the real truth is, they can't.

Just ask yourself, if any of the pro girls were guys, would they be pro? No. They might not even be am. There are guys at pretty much every mountain who aren't sponsored, they just ski for fun, and they would probably place at womens's x games. Not probably, they WOULD place.
