Replying to Stevens Pass Hope On The Slopes 2009/ Washington NS Member Gathering
The basic concept behind this event is gather donations in the name of skiing for the American Cancer Society. It also doubles as a vertical challenge where you tag the amount of runs youve taken and they record the amount of vert youve racked up. Theres only a couple prizes and the team needs to raise quite a bit of money (more than I expect to get) but it can be a real fun thing to do. You ski all night from saturday morning to sunday morning (if you choose to).
In the past NS has had a couple members participate (Me, Will, Shreddingthegnar etc) but this year I will be forming Team Newschoolers in order to spur more involvment. Since I will be forming the team there is no entry fee, you need only to sign up (through me) and ask your friends and family for a small donation. We all realize that times are tough, but I am hard pressed to think of a better cause. With the ACS you know your money is being well spent and making a real impact. I dont have high goals for money raised, id just like to get everyone together, raise some money, and have a good time.
This is also going to double as an NS member gathering weekend. We talked about this last year but this year id really like to get a strong group of NSers to come together and hopefully we can meet all of the people we have been chatting with all this time, obviously a lot of us already know eachother, but fuck yeah for washington, always good to meet more people. So even if you are not planning on joining in on HoTS I hope that you can come up and shred.
The event takes place on March 7th and 8th and if you are a part of the event you can pay a reduced fee for a 2 day lift ticket (50$?). You can also try asking your friends for their season passes, Stevens Pass employees will no doubt see this, but meh, theres really no way for lifties to tell if its you or them when you go through the RFID gate haha.
In the coming weeks ill see about setting up a more organized event for NSers (midnight park party haha?) and ill have the team formed. Please contact me with any questions or to express your interest in joining the team. Most likely I wont be filling up the spots until a couple weeks before the event just to avoid people dropping out of it and having to deal with that. There are 15 spots on the team and I expect to easily fill up all 15. They also encourage some kind of team uniform... maybe we will do tall tees down to our ankles or something haha, any thoughts on this are welcome, if you are up for it.
Not sure if I forgot something... but discuss away~
