i have a a waxing question i know there r a million theads and this is so gayperish and noobish but but dont want to look but how (long should you let wax sit before scraping)

the longer the better yes, but you do not have to wait at least 30 minutes. if you are in a rush scrape once the wax is no longer warm

I'd say wait about searchbar, and then if the searchbar is searchbarred, you could even searchbar it if you want...its totally up to you

The longer the better, if you put your skis outside you can scrape em in an hour or so...

 but seriously, when i do my own skis, i dont scrape, the excessive wax comes off in that first run....

I usually wait around 20 mins or so. I have never heard of putting your skis outside. I thought it was the longer the wax stay warm the deeper it will set into the base, but I could be wrong.

Also I love when people with 98 posts use search bar reply. Instead of just saying search bar why dont you help a little more and find a thread with the info the thread maker is looking for. Too lazy?

Unless you're hot scraping don't bother. That wax will all be gone after 2 runs anyways, just leave it on. It doesn't do any damage and you get a little more speed for your first 2 runs and a nice finish after. The only reason you would scrape it off is to brush it, which I'm assuming you don't do. Either way leave it on. I learned this from a very high level race coach.

or when the top of the ski and bottom of the ski are back to room temperature. You just want the wax to harden, if it is not hardened then you have a problem to say the least.

You serious? Id love to meet that coach then. You always need to scrape after you wax, period. The microscopic channels in a ski base (called structure) is what repels water/snow crystals, allowing the ski to slide. The more wax you leave on, the slower you will be because you're trying to slide on bumpy, smooth, hardened wax. Even if you dont brush after, scrape always. As to the time to let set, the longer the better. As someone mentioned a few up, the longer a base sits after waxing, the more the wax seeps into the base. Sure you can scrape after 10 minutes or when its cool, but for optimum results, let it sit for a while. And as for all that wax "being gone in two runs", it definitly doesnt work that way. A ski base is like a microscopic sponge, the more you wax the more the base particles are saturated with wax. A well waxed ski will slowly release the wax throughout the day due to friction of the base sliding, and definitly will retain wax for more than 2 runs. Hope that all came out right.

i have a brand new pair of skis that are being mounted within the week, and im not sure whether to wax them or not. do new skis come factory waxed?

They do come with a factory wax, but it is pretty thin and my bases always seem to be pretty dry after the first day on them.

Martin, I  Factory wax is alright but if you ski on them for a while  you def know the difference. I usually ski on factory wax a couple times and then wax them. As someone said factory wax is thin and not that good. If you shop will wax for free while mounting then go for it. I only wait because my friends do my tuning or I do it. Hope this helps man.
