just a couple that come to mind, i dont know if theyve been said already i didnt read every post. the national are like my favorite band ever ive been listening to them for 3 years now solid.

beirut is definitely a good suggestion. i have been listening to elliott smith a lot lately. album suggestions should be self titled, "either/or" and "XO"

best songs IMO are "needle in the hay", "ballad of big nothing", "between the bars", "pictures of me", "waltz #2", "baby britain" and "independence day" but he really did not write a bad song. what does everyone else think?

best songs, in my opinion:

whatever, miss misery, say yes, between the bars, waltz #2, kings crossing, memory lane, let's get lost, junkbond trader, angeles, son of sam, happiness, rose parade, 2:45 am, coast to coast, twilight....

the list goes on. you can't go wrong with elliott smith.

animal collective, band of horses, ben kweller, broken social scene, clap your hands say yeah, damien rice, mates of state, matt costa, regina spektor, rilo kiley, the shins, stereophonics, the thrills, vampire weekend...those are a few i like.

almost forgot pavement. you have to check them out they have so many cds and all of them are great. also if you like that, check out any of stephen malkmus (lead singer of pavement) solo stuff.

fuck yeah, i love the mountain goats!! you ever hear atom and his package? he covers a few songs in a very different but very cool way.

Dr. Dog - Fate  (The album 'We All Belong' is very good)

Andrew Bird - Noble Beast (i would reccomend getting Armchair Apocrypha)

Bonnie Prince Billy & Matt Sweeny - Superwolf is one of THE BEST "indie folk" albums, EVERRRR. I See A Darkness is also a classic.

also, ^ if you're gonna get some Andrew Bird, I strongly suggest Mysterious Production of Eggs, I prefer it to Armchair Apocrypha by a good amount. Have only heard the new on once so I can't compare very well.
