We need to do something about this new fucked up generation

kids in 8th grade getting faded as fuck is ridiculous. when i was in 8th grade, a bowl was enough weed to keep me happy for 2 days. these kids drink and smoke and even hit the hardcore shit. its ridiculous.

i have a younger brother, whos in 8th grade and has all this shit happening around him. so this hits home for me. is there any way NS can help get rid of this shit? any way we can influence these younger kids and tell them to stop fucking their lives up at such a young age? please discuss, and lets try not to be so indifferent, we were all that awkward freshman at one point in our lives.

Well, my first response was going to be FULL TILT!!!!, but then I realized that my bro is in middle school now and all this shits happening around him too. But sadly I don't think NS can do anything about it since alot of the pros do it. I think their a bigger influence than us.

I feel the parents are to blame, its almost as if their giving up on raising their kids. they don't punish their kids anymore, its more of a "you better not do that again!" when i was younger and my parents found out i was smoking weed i wasnt aloud to do anything, i had to be home right after school, no going out, no computer, no video games, i didnt have a life for a month. still didnt stop me from smoking at the time but i was a hell of a lot more careful about it lol! but things have gotten a lot worse. Parents need to kick it into 3rd gear and start monitoring their kids a lot more. I cant think of what the community of NS can do, maybe start going around dousing parents with cold water and slapping in the face and telling them to wake and that the younger generations are going to shit!?

yeah, but i mean there has to be a way to tell these kids to tell their friends to slow the fuck down and not have this stupid Lil Wayne fueled generation from killing off so many young kids. just doing little things to stop or try and save some of these kids. Jackass didnt help at all for my generation, hella kids were killed trying that, and then i hear all the stories about Warp Tour or Warped Tour or whatever its called and how  kids are killed in these massive brawls they have that are "cool". idk, shit grinds my gears.

haha same shit as me man. i was raised by 1950s South African values. i got hella careful. but excellent point. the parents that smoke and shit im fine with, as long as they arent hypocritical, but the ones that just dont give a fuck about their kids are the ones that worry me. i mean is the US really that fucking far down the drain?

it's sad, but that's how it's always been. we're older now so we see these kids young as hell doing all the things we do. but do you remember when you were in 8th grade? we thought we knew everything. it's been the same for a long time.
we've been smoking pot, drinking, doing drugs, having sex - no different than kids in the 80s, the 60s, pot was legal back in the 20s - even for recreational use. kids have been "bad" ever since "bad" things were introduced to society. it's been no different if you think about it.

i know kids in 8th grade hitting the rock. its like the inner city moved into suburbia and dig its teeth deep. yeah, ive been smoking since 7th grade, im a junior in high school now, but seriously, this is getting way out of hand. when i was in 8th grade, shit was bad and it had gotten worse. now, shit is horrible and turning into hell.

i was on the chair lift the other day riding up with 2 random kids(single line) and they couldnt have been older than 7th grade and i hear them talking, and there like, "haha look at that fucker. hes such a fag."
 i was blown away by how profane they were at such a young age.

word. ive been wanting to make this thread since i was back in Boise and i heard these 3 kids who were talking about all these incredibly fucked up pranks they had pulled on people. they swore more than ive sworn in my whole life in an hour long bus ride. they couldnt have been more than 12 and they were talking about how they vandalized their pincipals car and their police record. ridiculous.

its nobody elses fault but ours you guys...thread creator, you say you did weed in 8th grade yet are amazed that now your bro is there and now they are doing more shit...you can put your self at blame for that, you never know who looks up to you or the things you do, obviously the blame is barely on you, but you never know what younger person says well "blah blah does it, so its got to be the cool thing"...its the same thing with drinking too, its getting way to out of hand with younger kids, like my seventh grade cousin does it and she does it because her 2 older sisters do. Parents can be some what to blame, but they aren't really the ones their kids are watching smoke weed or drink (most of the time)...its the older siblings and just upperclassmen...when i have kids i'm cracking the fuckin whip.

i'd like t say that was true, and it is. i wish i could blame myself. but i blame MTV and other things because getting fucked up in the club smokin dubs has been popularized by them. not me.

also, in 8th grade, smoking, hitting 3 lines shrooming and stealing my parents car, then ramming it into a neighbors house was unthinkable for me, yet a kid in Boise did that last week. he was a 7th grader.

i will say, im not a great example, but i dont even think about talking about smoking to anyone younger than a freshman. period. full stop.

This is the result of the previous generation doing the same thing, the kids having nothing to do in their spare time, and throw some weed into the mix and it gets fucking destructive. These kids need to find something they love to do, whether its skiing or soccer or whatever, they need to find something that they believe is more worth their time then what they're already doing. What they need to ask themselves is "At the end of the day, where is this getting me?" and when they realize that the answer is nowhere, thats when they'll stop and start doing something else.

How could you suggest that this generation is "fucked up" when you were smoking in...grade 7?

I just find it to be very biased of you, to say "kids these days are fucked up" when you portray yourself as the classmate who would run off of school grounds, to toke a joint and eat doritos during lunch break...

And as for the examples you gave, there will always be extreme cases of mischievous youth. Although, just as there are druggies, don't forget that the "good" boys and girls are still existent...only isolated from the real world, protected by their parents and math homework.

dude there were kids my age when i was in 7th grade dealing pot and somehow getting alcohol and selling it to kids. plus youre in singapore alcohol is 3000x easier to get ahold of than back in america.

It's parenting... in middle school I thought weed and alcohol were the devil. That's how it should be though. Middle schoolers are too young to not be sober.

But like I said... it's parenting. A lot more parents are being lazy and not being involved in their kids lives and teaching them right from wrong, and giving out punishments the kids deserve.

The family situation definitely plays a very large role in the entire situation. If a kid has a good family that is always around, he will not be tempted to try weed/drink at a young age. In high school its a bit different since the whole culture kind of changes, but when I was in middle school i never even considered drinking and thought weed was something that only crazy people do. I feel like a lot of kids don't have a good family situation wiht the growing rates of divorce and domestic problems, so they are being introduced to weed and drugs at a younger age through the media and trying it because they don't have families saying dont do it.

i think its great how someone finally made a thread about this.  Back in middle school i thought weed and alcohol were sooo bad, but now there are kids in my school who deal pot.  it's rediculous at how young these kids are that sell this shit.

This is very true.. When I was in middle school and even high school I never touched pot and tried my best to stay away from it. I tried drinking once in tenth grade and thought it was kind of fun, but my parents had me thinking all that stuff was just trouble, and it can be! I tried smoking pot the end of my junior year in HS and I liked it.. that summer I got really into getting fucked up and getting laid as much as possible and that was not good.. I have really grown up a lot and I smoke a lot of weed, but only when I can afford to, money-wise and education-wise. Same with drinking, in moderation it is fun, like just chilling and having a few beers or if you go out for the night. I try to be as good of a role model for my 7th grade sister as I can because I know she looks up to me. The OP was pretty relevant though, I hear about a lot of stuff in my hometown that is just messed up.. there was a pregnant 8th grader last year, 7th graders selling pot, kids on shrooms and acid.. That is just too young for those kind of things and I feel bad for the kids who do that because it's really a sign of an unstable household.. =/

what bothers me most is seeing like 12 year old kids getting drunk. I didn't even really get drunk til i was like 16 (i was raised the French way...drinking since birth, but to appreciate the drink, not just chug it to get drunk so i didn't see the point)

At 12 years old you should be doing the stupid shit me and my friends were doing, building little jumps and rails, tree forts, lighting shit on fire. And just having fun with your friends doing dumb stuff that you can't get away with doing once you're older.

and now that i think of it, how the fuck does someone so young get alcohol?! I have trouble now, and i'm in college! But then again i suppose at that age, just the smell of beer probably makes them a bit tipsy.

when I really think about it when I was in 8th grade kids around me were having sex and trying weed. I mean fuck I knew kids who would get naked and jerk off together in a dark room (3 guys one girl, no homo).

I didnt really try anything myself until high school, and thats the same for a lot of kids. Youre probably not going to hear about the kids who go home after school everyday and do there homework... doesnt make good gossip.

I'm positive the generation coming up after us (us being born before 1990) will have a lot more to deal with then we had to, with the advent of facebook and the media really pushing mtv values on them. Hopefully theyll learn fast.

So true, stand up comedy can actually be really intelligent and thought-provoking too. Sometiems it's people being goofy, but with guys like Joe Rogan and a lot of other notable comedians it's almost as enlightening as it is hysterical. I will admit, I do watch MTV like... once a month maybe, just because I'm a cynical bastard so I get a bit of amusement out of watching humanity at its lowest and stupidest, but I could definitely do without.

yeah bro i am cynical and sarcastic about everything just as you are. and i think pointing at the worst in human kind like comedians do helps kids understand what the good is. we use the funny to soften the blow of the truth. the jokers in medieval Europe were the ones who broke bad news to the king because they made him laugh while they did it and it softened the impact of whatever they were telling him. stand up comics do the same today, but they are talking to the public. and in the theory of democracy, the people are king. so, theyre doing the same thing now as they have been doing since jokes have been told.

yeah i agree. it seems fucked up right now. but honestly, that generation (our generation) will turn out fine. we'll get college degrees. we'll get wives. we'll get jobs. we'll get cars. we'll get houses. just look at the hippies of the 70's. those were the baby boomers and look at them now; lawyers, doctors, etc. it's just kids being kids. obviously they must be prevented from doing any harm to themselves or anyone else, but honestly it's just a phase.

Im in college and I remember having friends drinking, smoking pot and having sex in 8th grade. Hell, I started smoking in 8th grade after being influenced by a friends older brother. Granted I didnt grow up in the best school, or the best city. The people that were caught up in the harder stuff are now dead/in jail, but at the same time my friends and I that did our share of expeimenting are doing fine. It all comes down to the family situation and how well limits are set and how well positive examples are portayed.

QFT. i know plenty of little kids who are sick bikers, boarders, etc. and they're surrounded by friends and others who smoke a bowl everyday, but these kids have good families who raise them not to get into that shit, or at least not at their age.
when i was in grade 9, hardly anybody smoked. now, almost every grade 7 boy is hitting the ganja every day. it's scary, especially knowing that so many people are lacing weed with hard drugs now. i wouldn't be surprised if some of those kids are smoking weed laced with crack, and that makes me pretty sad.
but there are still a lot of kids who know to stay away from that shit, or at least do it sparingly like i did when i was younger, and make sure they get it from someone they can trust.

same here with me, i was a pussy back in 8th grade, all the way up to basiclly halfway through softmore year when i first tried weed haha. at that age, i really had no idea about any of that, thought that weed was a death sentence ect ect. i guess its just changing of the times

Most of the people I know that started using drugs/smoking cigs/drinking in middle school have turned their life for the worse. Most of the people I know who didn't start smoking weed/drinking until the end of sophomore year of high school are able to maintain a party lifestyle, but are mature enough to get their school work/job done good and right.

I think it comes from pop culture, MTV, and much music for once. All these kids have for role models are lindsay lohan getting fucking wasted and being a huge slut. And now marketing agencies market all things to kids to say this is cool! this is what bigger kids do! and it encourages them to try and grow up faster. Everyone knows that the fastest way to grow up ( to some degree) is to drink, do drugs and have sex. That's what their role models tell them at least. And its fucking fun and there is no way they could know or understand the consequences of their actions at this age.

Maybe it will work out in their benefit though and they will just grow smarter faster and out of that stage faster and see what else there is in the real world.

ha, i feel so old when i say stuff like "its that damn modern pop culture" don't you?

but i agree, kids try to grow up too fast and try to act like older kids, and its a problem. If i have a kid and he pulls that shit to try to be older, i'll let him do it, but i'll make him get a job and pay rent, regardless of age, because thats what the cool older kids do.
