Newbiest question ever

I have been skiing for two seasons now, and love it. my only problem is that because of the way i was introduced to it, i am very unknowledgeable when it comes to the equipment. long story short, i have only had had me downs in the past, and i now have a brand new pair of line invaders...i know they have factory wax on them, but wanted to know if i need to wax them, or get them waxed before i use them?

Just stick around NS for a while, especially gear talk and you will be fine.  I was like that 3 years ago and now I know a lot about gear just from being here and talking to skiers and stuff.
To answer your question, yes, it would be a good idea to put some wax on them besides the factory wax.

i ski on factory wax sometimes but it's a good idea to do a base prep on them before skiing them for the first time

for sure wax them. they will work on the factory wax but its always good to get a good new layer on there.

do you guys wax, scrape and brush? cus if you do that the wax really only last a few runs as well. why do you guys wax? base burn or just to keep em slippery?

when i raced, sometimes wed hotscrape and brush which gets shitty debri out n stuff, then leave it on over night and scrape and brush on the hill.

also before you iron its key to have the ski at room temp.

i do as follows:
brush to get the old wax/dirt out because if you hot wax before brushing you just push the dirt in further
then i drip, slide around
scrape
let that ski dry
drip, slide around
scrape
repeat 2 times
then brush at the end

Ski bases are like sponges, the more you wax, the more saturated the bases become. On all of my race skis and even my anthems, i wax 10-15 times before season, and every day after i get home from the mountain. The more wax you have in your base the longer it will last.

I ski on factory wax when I get a new pair of jib skis because A: I'm just going to tear the base to shit anyway, and B: I'm mad lazy...

I keep the factory wax for early season then I get them waxed mid season. the reason why is that you going to end up fucking them up anyways.

if i ski on my bibbys for one day next week on the factory wax will it do any damage? cuz i wanna try em out once before i go home for break, but with finals and what not i honestly dont have time to be waxing skis

invest in some simple waxing equipment man, an old iron is what i use then get some proper wax i just use a all around temperature wax , then all you need is a scraper and a nylon brush and some ski base cleaner. With this you can keep your skis running good all year. and you don't need to pay to get them waxed at a shop.

Use em. Factory wax is usually not much but a buffed on coat pof transit wax. No problem.

I try to wax my skis once a week, realistically it only happens maybe every other week. If they're jib skis don't sweat it too much as the bases are going to get fucked anyway. Plus good luck with your Invaders, those bases are so fucking hard they suck at absorbing wax. I had to sit on my tails last year just to avoid knuckling shit.
