supermagician__i have a miata now and by the end of summer I could import a stagea which would be my daily for the rest of the year, and probably my drift car because I really can't bring myself to fuck up my miata. It's lived so long as is.
but, my options are sell the miata now and make very minimal profit, and import a car by may at the latest, or should I tinker away with the miata for a while and keep it for my dad and I to have fun with and make it a track car? Any opinions are welcome lol
(the miata is an 89, which means it's a left hand drive japanese imported car which also has a very low vin number if that means anything to any of you.)
lo-keyYo guys, I need some help
Looking at buying my first car soon ( been driving for a while now but just borrowing parents car ) and I'm having trouble finding the right one.
Looking for a car that is:
- A small-ish station wagon
- 4WD (not AWD)
- Super reliable
- good fuel economy
- low price ( looking to spend around 5k nzd at most, so I guess around 3.5k usd )
Been looking at Toyota Caribs cause they fit what I'm looking for perfectly, but they haven't been coming up for sale a lot recently so I sorta need more options to look for.
any recommendations?
SounderYou guys with AWD and traction control and good weight distribution are pussies... You wanna really drive? Get yourself one of these neck breaking, turbo charged 4 cylinder hulk of Swedish engineering.
The Volvo 740 turbo wagon, making a incredible 162 ass clenching horsepower, channeled through a 4 speed transmission.

Although I have to park at the top of my driveway or else I get stuck at the garage
SounderHa! Yeah I know the feeling. I live in the town on a flat street, so I'm always parked in the side of the road. The plow comes through and leaves a nice big pile blocking me in, so I have to shovel it out for two hours then try for 10 minutes to get out, and finally break down and put the chains on. RWD is great, isn't it?

Mr.CaponeI put a corvette engine into my 1988 BMW 325...now it's a 357 (3 series with a 5.7 liter v8 instead of a 2.5 liter inline 6). The new engine is all aluminum so it gained no weight aka it's 2800 lbs and has 350 hp. It's actually kinda scary to drive haha...

the_camburgerAre you on Carthrottle? If you're not, I seriously recommend checking it out. That E30 would get so much hype if you posted it there.

charmanderpicked up this cutie for a steal. cant wait till the wife lets me sell it and buy another cummins
so long and good riddance to this thing
.CJ.About to get my first car pretty soon.
I've been looking at '02-'05 WRX's, b5 a4 avants, 1st/2nd gen Cherokees, or maybe a mid sized truck.
I know subies are super reliable and Cherokees last forever. But I'm hesitant about getting an Audi because I've heard the drivetrain craps out once it gets over 100k miles.

nothing that impressive but here's my 03 RSX. got it in the summer and still have some plans for it. its mostly stock but i plan on doing a cat back, coilovers and lowering, tint, new rims, debadging except for the acura emblem, and maybe a couple other things. nothing set in stone until i have some more cash on hand
CheeFFor the love of all that is good, cummins swap a chev or ford. Dodge generally sucks at drivetrains and electrical systems.
charmanderkind of a misconception. ive had 2 cummins powered dodges and the dodge part has given me no issues, the damn 12 valves have just killed me though. its like an addiction though, ill have a 3rd gen soon enough.
i do have a 72 gmc sittin around, if i swap a diesel into it it will be a 453t detroit though.
Titus69I love those things, get the type S wing for it too
Slurpsicle. It was a nice day in bozo for a shoot.

Randy_QuenchAfter about 3 months of searching I finally picked up an 04 5sp XT.
Right now it's got a full invidia 3in TBE with a catless downpipe, running a cobb stage 2 tune, and is sitting on coilovers.
Next thing I have to do is swap the catless DP for a catted one so I don't overboost on the cobb tune. Then I'll work my way onto swapping the coilover suspension for wrx suspension to keep low but gain functionality, replacing the stock TMIC with a STI TMIC and a STI hood scoop, maybe a CAI (but more likely just a better filter in the stock airbox), a roof rack, and some kind of light bar/offroad light setup.
crotchventSweet car and I love foresters but I don't get why so many of them lower and put offroad lights on them.

CirilloWhy don't you just get it tuned for the catless DP? Your car will run better than any OTS tune.
