Ski trip, i need some help NS!

that's a lotta places youve got in mind...i dont know if you realize how much insanely boring/possibly dangerous driving youre going to be doing between those spots. probably narrow it down to one of those two choices and just chill for the entire trip and relax and ski.

check out bozeman montana. they got big sky and moonlight, both like an hour away, and bridger which is like twenty to thirty minutes

okay so you guys are just thinking montana and idaho?  i seriously have no clue what to do, so any help like that is phenominal.  any ideas of what lift tickets there are gonna run me?

Any chance any of you guys wanna let four guys crash on your floor for some money / beer / whatever.  im just trying to make this trip as inexpensive as possible for four college kids.

Thats sweet dude, me and some friends are doing a really similar trip from jan 29 - feb 4 or 5. We're gonna do one day at Bridger in Montana, then we're gonna go down to wyoming and do a few days at Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole. If your just looking for a few hills in the same area just stay in Bozeman and ski bridger and moonlight. Bridger is cheap and moonlight has sweet college student discounts... both have a lot of fun terrain and could definitely keep you occupied for a couple days. I've never skied big sky(just because its like twice the price of moonlight...) but it looks sweet too, and I think they have a much better park... but if you are planning on montana, I hope your not hoping for good parks...

haha yeah thats like the same trip, just delayed by a month....ill let ya know how it goes.  yeah taht sounds like a plan for montana, so i think im gonna go that route.  as for the parks, im not expecting much, i just wanna ski some pow, but im still gonna bring my invaders if i feel like hitting something up.  i dunno.  if anyone knows any thing about that city, and input would be excellent

if youre not trying to do a bunch of hotels ahead of time, then just wait around and see who's getting the best snow first...honestly, the "no plan" plan is an awesome way to go sometimes and you'll have a lot of fun with your friends just sitting around accuweather.com and deciding where to go at the last minute

lol, sweet fail on my part... we're actually going over dec 28 to jan 5, I got so confused when I saw your post at first! But yea, if there's any fresh snow hit up bridger for sure... I skied it on a mediocre pow day last year and it was epic. Moonlight has some cool open faces, but the tree skiing kinda sucks there. Bridger is way smaller but much more fun terrain in my opinion, cool trees, and some decent faces. And this year they are opening a new lift to access way more intense terrain... that new lift is most of the reason for our return trip there(just fyi avy gear is required for it)... but over all montana is just sweet, no lines, super cool hills, and sweet people.

yeah thats what i heard.  the guys that im going with were liek wtf when i suggested idaho.  Ive just heard that its sick, but not much else.  any one know of anything?

i live in bozo. its deffentally a ski town. hopefully we get a good ski season and hopefully your here on a pow day. but if your not you will still have fun. theres about six resorts within an hour and a half. bridger, big sky, moonlight, great divide, showdown and red lodge. big sky and moonlight are the fanciest and most expersive. big sky has great terrain. not too many people and there park is alright, a couple of jumps and some rails. not extravagant. moonlight also has great terrain, except it is on the other side of the mountain as big sky therefore it can be in a shadow most of the day. there park is pretty sick, tons of rails but no "real" jumps. bridger is kind of the "locals" hill but everytime im there the lift lines piss me off. the hill is sick. great steeps and deeps kind of place. it should be even better if you have a beacon due to the schlosshmans lift opening this year. great divide is a fun hill if your expecting to hit park and not much else. the dont get much snow and the snow makers spend most of the time in the park. showdown is my home hill. it doesnt have much of a park but ive heard it has the lightest pow out of any ski hill in america. something to do with its location to the ocean and the altutide. its small but fun, people are very nice and will show you around. ive never skied red lodge, pretty much all i know about it is people refer to it as rock dodge. anyway, thats my opinion of the hills around bozo.

Just a thought, but maybe you wanna check out Alta/Snowbird in Utah. It's two resorts in one and they were rated #1 resort this year by POWDER mag. 

If you want lift ticket prices go to the mountain's websites and look it up. Dont be lazy and wait for someone on here to do that for you. As for meals just buy groceries and make your meals. You will save so much money that way.

yeah i checked out utah a couple years ago with my dad and had a killer time.  the only problems with it where that it was a little pricey and we flew. We are planning on driving so MO is closer and hopefully cheaper.  snowbird was really fun though
