I know there has been a previous thread on this, but I would like to observe it to my own body (weight,height,etc..) I have been looking at these skis for a while and I cannot decide which one I prefer. I ski 75park/25mt and I live on the west coast (tahoe). I like skiing both aggressive and playful. I am 5'9 170-175lb I am concerned the Anthems are too soft for me and while they will be fun in the park, due to my weight they will not be the best skis on pow days. Things I like about the anthems are the ollide band and the butter zone these just make the skis hella park-friendly. Also I like wider skis. The chronics are stiffer and can handle my weight no problem, but are they fun in parks? compared to anthems? also the graphics on the chronics are ill as hell. So please help!
id go anthems, they will be ok for you in park and not to flexible, and they rip all mountain. my friend has a pair of last years and he was able to ski pretty much anything on our mountain and were in montana. but yeah anthems for sure
anthems are more playful and fun in the park compared to the chronic
but the chronic does have a really sick graphic this year
but i would go with the anthem
i'd consider myself an advanced expert skier. and i'm right around your weight bracket. don't get me wrong, the anthem is a fun ski and i used it most days last winter even when i was just running around the resort (keystone) and not really skiing the park at all and it was a blast. but the chronic absolutely destroys the anthem for all mountain performance. and they're really solid in the park. the one thing i would rather be on the anthems than anything else is rails. anything else, give me the chronic. also, you said you're in tahoe... why don't you check out the new blend? it's still a super fun park ski and it'll straight kill it when it snows out there. my suggestion would be to forget the anthem and weigh your options between the chronic and the blend.
^ i totally agree with you but he's gonna be skiing park 75% of his time, so having a ski that wouldn't perform as well as the chronic at allmt wouldn't really be that bad. in my opinion the anthem isn't bad at all at allmt as alot of people say. i'm about your size but about 20lbs heavier and my anthems where super fun around the mountain. i was actually surprised at how well they handled, they held a great edge and wouldn't chatter at higher speeds... for what you want to ski i'm sure you'll be happy with the anthems.
