Ns help: my friends in the shit and i need your advice!!

well last tuesday night my mate was driving home from a party drunk. alot of my mates do it, its stupid and they know that, but they run the risk, and this time it turned to shit.
He was driving 120kmph in a 50k zone, so obviously going mad fast and spun out and crashed. Him and 2 girls in the car were scratched and bruised but the other guy wasnt wearing a seatbelt. He went to hospital and was on life support for awhile, now he can open his eyes, but is non responsive, its still touch and go, but its likely hell have major brain damage.
I saw the guy who was driving last night and hes fully messed up. once hed realised what he had done he tried to kill himself, and last night he was crying the whole time. Hes a fully legit dude who fucked up big time. but now his lifes fucked. Depending on what happens to the guy whos hurt he'l probably be looking at major jail time as he was 5x the legal blood alcohol limit. i know that your probably thinking it servs him right for drink driving and for being an idiot, well i agree that he was being stupid, but hes not like that at all, and now the rest of his, and the other dudes lifes are fucked. their both school kids.
so ns, what do you think i should do to help, obviously just hope to god that the other guys ok, but how do you try and support someone whose realistic enough to know hes in the shit?
spark notes: my mate drunk drove and crashed doing 120kmph. Hes looking at mad jail time depending on the outcome of the victim. hes a good dude whose made a big mistake whilst being drunk and now his whole life is ruined. what can i do to help?

Wow.. Seriously there really insn't much you can do. As sad as it sounds that one night, that one mistake, will probably cost him a lot of jail time and a lot of hard times down the road.
Seriously, it's horrible what he did no doubt, he's going to have to live with the fact he has done something to his friends but really there's not much to be done.
I seriously hope that guy in the hospital is okay.

fuck man thats not good. no point anyone lecturing you cause you obviously know whats up. i don't think threre is much you can do man, both you and him know hes fucked up big time, you're just gonna have to be there as a shoulder to cry on. even just hanging out with him, watch dvds or playing xbox or something with him will help him take his mind off it for a while.. I assume hes bailed to his property or something so he won't be able to get out n about much?
how old are you guys? hopefully the dude in hospital is ok. and hopefully this'll serve as a pretty strong message to everyone else at your school not to drink n drive.

The only thing to do in your situation is to do your best to prevent it in the future. If that means knocking a drunk out cold, do it. They'll thank you in the morning.

man, all i can say is to get your other friends to stop drinkin and drivin, so that they don't have to go through the same shit, and you don't have to deal with witnessing the aftermath. sounds like your bud is fucked though, let this be a lesson yo.

if the driver is 17 then he should make it out alright, i mean he fucked up but atleast hes not 18. idk the laws in england (if thats where you live i'm assuming) but best luck to his outcome. i dont know how many times people are going to have see the bad shit that goes down when you drive drunk to just not drive drunk. whenever i'm drunk its not like the first thing i want to do is get in the closest car and break the speed limit, it doesn't make any sense to me, and i know you know this but to everyone else, quit being stupid.

I don't think the age matters that much in nz, criminal liability age in nz is 14, I dunno if that counts for driving offences too. I don't think they are very lienent when it comes to drink driving like that though. Probably the best he would get is home detention. If no one was injured it could have been different. Sorry not trying to be a douche, just keeping it real, I doubt hes gonna get off too lightly.

my neighbor tried passing a car. hit head on with another and killed the dude. he had smoked the night before so he failed the drug test. he was fucked up for a long time. just be there for him and he should pull out of it.
