Well, I have some questions about video cameras, and I know other people do, questions that have never really been answered, so this is a thread for those of us with inquiries to air them and those of us with knowledge to inform:
Question 1: I have a Sony VX21K..is it really that bad for the heads to capture with it? Should I use another shittier camera to capture?

If its a camera that uses the same format then it is fine. If its a camera using a lower format then it will ruin quality. For instance, one of my skiers gave me his tapes from his DVX100, which shoots in DVC Pro, and i tried to capture it with my HVX200, which the only format that you can use with tape on the HVX is mini dv. This was actually the only time i have ever put a tape in my hvx, haha. Therefore when it captured it the quality was lost.
I would reccomend it to save the heads, but dont risk quality, you can always clean and/or eventually replace your heads.
opinions vary significantly on this topic.

first off, try to not hijack the thread. your better off searching this forum, or a forum dedicated to cameras, as they will know more about this stuff.
to the thread creator- i also suggest looking in a camera forum, because the population of people with that camera over there is way higher, and they probably know more about it there as well.
i wish i could help, but i have no idea
