quiksliver owns rossi, and dynastar, along with rip curl, i think k2 is owned by someone else. whoever owns DC i think.

actually i forget it may not be k2 it may be burton that owns quicksilver i forget. quicksilver and roxy are under the same umbrella im pretty sure. ive been searching all over for this its going to bother me now till i remember lol

its the quiksilver group that owns comanies like dc, roxy, rossi, etc. And yeah roxy and quiksilver are owned by the same company, look at the roxy logo, its just 2 quiksilver logos twisted alittle and made into a heart.

K2 is actually owned by a company that has pretty much nothing to do with skiing.  Some online company, can't remember the name though.

Quicksilver is a parent company. Here's the low down on Rossis and Roxy's parent company:

K2 is owned by Jarden Co and is a major competitor to Rossi. Here's a breakdown of them:

As per the article, it seems Quicksilver is trying to unload their SKI division company Rossignol.

I've read in other articles that even after it's purchase of Rossi in 2005 that they went in streamlined production of their ski plants in France and are still losing money. Part of the problem would also be that Rossignoleitheir consists of not only Rossignol Ski/Snow Goods/Clothes but a fledgling division in Cleveland Golf and Dynastar skis...which as a whole combine for negative debt.

Part of the reason to buy Rossi was to add a Hard Goods division to their Clothing Juggernaut division which pulls in 73% of their business...which is huge! But it didn't do well enough and analysts are saying that it was a mistake for buying Rossi in the first place.

NOTE: If you're going to make a product in the SKI industry...make CLOTHES...cost effective and huge capital gains compared to SKIs...

So WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS:

Well...if Candide has switched to Quicksilver...then good for him. Way better for him and it's a much LARGER company...And if it's true that they are going to make skis....which I doubt, well great for us.

BUT:...it doesn't look to good for Rossignol skis or every other lesser part company under that umbrella.

roxy skis are made by dynastar and roxy is the female equivilant of quick so technicly wouldnt he be on dynastar skis?

Yes, K2 sports owns many companies, like K2 boards/skis, morrow, 5150, atlas snowshoes, Shakespeare fishing rods etc.  I know K2 sports is owned by another company though, It was either this past year or the year before that they were bought.

If the rumor is true that Rossignol dropped Candide, here is my theory as to why.  Candide Thovex is the Quiksilver Athlete, Quiksilver will not give him up.  Candide switched from Salomon to Rossignol at the same time the Quiksilver purchased Rossignol. Quiksilver is in the process of trying to sell Rossignol however they are going to keep Dynastar skis.  Because Roxy skis are just Dynastar skis with a different graphic on them, it doesn't sound too far fetched that once Quiksilver is successfull in selling Rossignol, Candide will switch over to Quiksilver brand skis, which will be Dynastar skis with the Quiksilver logo on them.  If not then he would just be switching to Dynastar skis.  I don't know if anything about Rossignol dropping him is true, but if it is, the above information is all that makes sense.  Also, Candide was originally on Dynastar, so that is kind of funny too.

123ski is right, roxy and quicksilver skis are essentially dynastar's, not rossignol's. But same parent company so no difference.  So essentially Candide is back on dynastar, it would be dope to have his old concept pro model and the new 09 dyna pro model too!

I am behind I am still looking for a salo candide pro 181 if anyone has em.

Rossi has close to 330000 skis ordered from Elan after the season was so bad last year the production order changed or decreased by 70%,hence, Rossi was back on the market.
I know some Dynas are made in Chamonix, still but the majority is made at Elan,
Nordica too is made at Elan.

^^wrong it is all true, prove it then I can I have been there I have seen all the brands Elan makes, explain to me when i was there in july i saw all the top foils for 0809 Dynas, Rossi, Roxy and Nordica.

I think the reason that candide moves to another company is that he gets a pro model
He was on Dynastar
He gets a pro model
He leaves Dynastar to go to salomon
He gets a pro model
He leaves salomon to go to rossi
He will prob get a pro model soon
Then he will leave rossi for some other company
to get another pro model
and leave that company for some other company...

i don;'t know if quicksilver is trying to sell rossi, i highly doubt that. but i do know for sure that they are trying to sell if have not already sold Cleveland Golf, which is under the Rossignol, Dynastar, Lang, Look Umbrella. When quicksilver bought Rossignol they aquired Cleveland also, and quicksilver is just not a golf organization and it just didn't makes sense. thats my 2 cents

Things aren't working out with Quicksilver so rossi is pulling out.  I'm sure Candide is getting paid much more from quicksilver than he is from rossi so I wouldn't be surprised if candide is switching it up

Rossignol - France (there scratch series was made in Spain this year, but they just shut the facotry down and outsourced some of their skis to Elan).

Perhaps the low end Rossignol and Children's skis (mostly rental quality stuff) is made by Elan in Slovenia, but I believe they are made in China.

4Frnt and Some Nordica are both made by Elan in Slovenia.  But that is no surprise since Elan does make a ton of skis for a ton of companies. Even though they don't have anything to do with those companies.  I have heard that 4Frnt is moving to Movement skis in Tunsia though.

Nordica race skis are made in Italy, except now that Tecnica (who owns Nordica) aquired Blizzard alot of their skis will be made by Blizzard in Austria.  Some of their skis are still made with Elan though. 

Dynastar are made in Sallanches, (as is Roxy). NOT BY ELAN

Volkl: 32 models in Germany. 4 models in China. Elan has never made an adult Volkl model, and they haven't made a junior model in several years.

I can keep going with all the brands, but as you can see, only some of your info is correct.

one misconception that many of you have is that Quiksilver is selling Rossi/Dynastar/Look/Lange...this just isn't true.  They are only trying to sell Rossignol.  Dynastar will stay under Quiksilver and they will continue to be Rosy (and maybe Quiksilver skis in the future).

123^^^you my friend are just a few months short, you might have been correct about who was making who a year ago, but alot has changed in twelve months, many labels and models are produced in Slovenia, it is just how it is. I am sure from who you heard from is a good source cause some of you knowledge was once correct. I will take some pictures for you next time but I wont hurt my own reputation or job security to prove shit on the internet. So believe what you want. But it is all it is a belief not fact.
Here is a fact Elan makes more Rossi's than you think in more models than you know.

Yeah, I only know that my info was correct as of 5 months ago, I guess some stuff could have changed during those last 5 months, with Rossi especially, but I know for a fact that it hasn't changed with Dynastar or Nordica from what I have said.  I just know that my Steezes were actually made in Spain before the factory closed down.  Oh well, I don't want to fight with you, it sounds like we both are on the right track, and the way stuff will keep switching between companies it will be hard for anyone to stay on top.

anyway no worries man, back to the topic I can see Candide , if he did leave Rossi, no way a French company ditches their champion du monde, he would go back to Dyna. I guess, I could see a company like Head making a push for him if he truly is able to sign somewhere.
But until I hear otherwise or see a press release that he will remain with Rossi, someone will bu them , but Rossi has been for sale for awhile. almost a year.
the poor snow season last year really hurt allot of companies especially in the EU.
