I think it's pretty lame how curtis entered a video from earlier this season during the last hours of the contest.

I know it's a contest for fun and everything but this one had a pair of skis as a prize and I think soem others entry were way more deserving especially when you look at how high his vid was rated compared to others.

I do agree that this is a problem... we shouldn't have videos uploaded at the last second, because nobody has a chance to vote them down.   Basically what happened was that vid went up with a few hours to spare and then everyone who voted did so with a high rating... However, if you look at the results very few of the rest of the people doing the voting got a chance to vote on that one. 

Now having said that, Curtis (thejackal1177) did win and did follow all the rules... and in the nature of contests when you do that you deserve to win. 

If Curtis thinks that he won unfairly we could blank the database and re-vote, but I'm going to leave that up to him.  

From now on, I think that the best way to do this is that we'll take uploads for a certain amount of time but no voting.   After a certain amount of time we'll open up the voting and disallow all other entries.

dude chill out it's an online contest and your sitting at your comp bitching out some kid who was just tryin to enter and have people see his trick. so ya didn't win, big dealzz.

as for entering last minute, I plan on entering this creative one last minute because my friend with the footy isn't importing it till tonight... it's just a fun thing to keep us busy each week and try some different stuff it's not all about winning.

You need to relax Ced, Curtis deserved it...he played by the rules. "entering last minute"...There is a deadline for a reason, you have the opportunity to submit up until the deadline, Curtis submitted before the deadline, hence he played by the rules and won this week. There is no wrong against entering last minute as long as it meets the deadline.
As for Mr. Bishop's post, I think he's come up with a quality idea for future contests. Have an allotted time where submissions can be uploaded, and then end and vote. But honestly, relax. You're trying to make the kid feel bad, like he wasnt good enough, and make him lose a pair of skis that he deservingly won.

I dont mind not winning, I shouldnt have won this booter contest and didnt came close to winning it.

 I dont think anything justify the difference of over a point  between curtis entry and the rest of the field.

 Just look at  martin's corked 5 and tell me it wasnt better tehn that cliff. it was just as skethc if not sketchier then curtis and was off natural terrain too.

Entering in the last hours of the contest is a good way to make sure only your firends rate our vid and to make sure noone would have the time to rate it back down like they do with all the other entry.
Did he do that on purpose???  No matter what the answer his, the results are teh same and I dont think he comes out as a fair winner.

I'm not the kind of guy that booo others while they cant see me, I'd rather tell it straight to their face.  I believe my opinion is legit and I,m not scrared to express it. If you dont agree it's ok but dont call me a sore looser for trying to make these fun contest legit so they can keep on happening and  eventually get bigger and have better prize for those who participate in them.

a little reminder from the contest homepage for those who didnt read it: 

Remember, even if you figure out a way to cheat the system, DON'T DO IT. I mean come on we all want to know who is the best, and we all complain about shitty judging, so this is the one way to get the true opinion. If someone's trick was better than your buddy's then vote it higher. Don't just vote for your friends because they're your friends, vote for who truly is the best and together we can re-define the way that skiing contests work!

i didnt try to cheat the system. i was away for a week and when i came back i noticed the thread advertiseing this online comp. i saw dougs post saying something like " last night of the contest so those who plan on entering get those vids in quick" so i entered thinking it would be a fun stress free event. Then today i get a pm from doug saying i won so i got really excited because with those skis i could probably afford going out to hood this summer. However all that excitement transferred into terrible stress when im trying to do my pre calc homework and have some 25 year old calling me out telling me to give up my skis. which i fairly earned by all guidelines. thought this was sopposed to be a fun thing. not stressfull

O well, anyway the way the contest are going now will prevent any confusion and will make it more legit.

If I've been wrong and misunderstood you and you intention, well I'm sorry and ask you to forgive me.

On another note I still think even if it wasnt on purpose it isnt a fair win and feel sad for the 2 runner ups that didnt get anything for their entry that many tought should win the contest over that cliff drop.

It's just sad that it wasnt the same format as teh uberopen where you couldnt vote before a set deadline, it would have prevented all of this. Anyway let's move on to something else.

Now I have to figure out why kids try to be like vanular, brogan and wallish :) :p
