This is so wrong on so many levels. I'm not going to scratch the surface....
But this should happen at American Idol if anywhere....
'BAND'S SUICIDE BATTLE
A rock group says it will go ahead with an on-stage suicide during a concert in the US next weekend, in defiance of a hastily-enacted law designed to scuttle the plan.
Hard-rock band Hell on Earth said a suicide by a terminally ill person would take place during a concert on Saturday in St Petersburg, Florida, to raise awareness of right-to-die issues.
The city council unanimously approved emergency legislation making it illegal to conduct a suicide for commercial or entertainment purposes, and to host, promote and sell tickets for such an event.
'While I still think it's a publicity stunt, we couldn't sit idly by and let somebody lose their life,' council member Bill Foster said.
A judge granted the city a temporary injunction against the band, preventing them from advertising the show and allowing the suicide.
But band leader Billy Tourtelot said: 'The show will go on.'
Tourtelot, 33, said the concert will be played before 'a select few people' at an undisclosed location in St Petersburg and will be shown live on the band's website.
He wouldn't disclose any details about the terminally ill person or say how the death would take place.
The Florida-based band, known for such outrageous on-stage stunts as chocolate syrup wrestling and grinding up live rats in a blender, created the furore by announcing that the suicide would happen at the State Theatre in central St Petersburg.
But the theatre's owner, David Hundley, promptly cancelled the band's show, and another venue also turned away the event.
Tourtelot said the band was aiming to raise awareness that physician-assisted suicide should be legalised in Florida.'

^ i agree. i also have a bigger problem with the blender rats. thats so mean and wrong. i support the right to die issue with terminally ill people, but i think thats a dumb way to go about getting the issue noticed more. it looks immature, unprofessional and the questions around the issue wont be taken seriously... everyone will just be concerned with watching this suicide and/or ways to prevent it.

i dunno i bet alot of people here would like to see someone die in front of them, its just not socially acceptable to say they would anymore. But just look at the turnouts for executions that used to happen hundreds of years ago. Its just human nature to want to see those kinds of things, and i dont think human nature has changed that much in a measley couple hundred years.

thats kinda fucked up... i support pro choice, on one condition. I think people should be able to do whatever they want AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T EFFECT ANYONE ELSE. In my mind to show a suicide at a concert isnt to prove a point, it is just a publicity stunt. As for the rats, im not even going to go there.

I definitely agree with assisted suicide for the terminally ill, elderly, etc. But yeah, taking it on a stage in front of other people is pretty crazy. You may want to see death, but it's no fun seeing in living color. I'm not trying to brag about this or anything (like some people might) but actually just yesterday the guy living two doors down from me in my dorm hall hung himself; I think it was the first ever suicide at this school. But the point is... that's not something that you should ever want to see. Seriously.

skeeordye well, said i tottally agree, my friends dad comittede suicide, and he had a family and a good life, he just went through something really rought and couldnt go on... if hed have had someone really talk to him and help him out, he couldve stayed on with his family.... and he did it in his own fucking basement for his kids to find him. its horrible, people need to be helped if they wanna die. Even terminally ill people should enjoy what they have left.

God decides who dies and who lives, last I checked suicide victims souls go to hell. Your life serves a purpose, all of these people that kill themselves because they are too sick to lead the life they want are robbing medical science and other peoples chances at beating terminal disease.

We are so advanced in medacine now that i think we all can agree without lots of medical intervention, these people would have died long ago. It dosent seem like if you want to talk about god, you should take them off the resporator and watch god take them naturaly cause that's what would happen. Plus, it's a little different to watch somone die violently than to watch euthinasia, which is usualy somthing along the lines of watching somone go to sleep and never wake up. We're so desensitized to violence and death these days, it's be a nice wake up call for some people to see somone actualy die; it's a part of life.
