its not what tricks you can throw but who you know, winning comps, and just getting your name out there. It doesnt matter if you can throw dspin 1260's if nobody ever see's you. So go out and enter some comps, work on your style and have fun. The rest will come

your bag of tricks sounds pretty good. now work on style and winning comps. the bigger the comps the better. the more comps the better. exposure is really good.

Ya i have one 2 local comps and have competed in others but have fallen both times on my 10. But it is soo hard to find comps on the eastcoast for skiers. There is a lot of skiing halfpipe comps but not like slopestyle or big air. It is soo hard ot get noticed out here, but i am going to a ski academy next year for highschool(cva so that should be good. Thanks man

hate to be a bitch or anything, but, ifyou want to be sponsored, you hv to pursue it. Companies aren't gonna just be like, 'woahhhhh, lets sponsor him!' You ahv to make yourself known. get your nm out. Ask shops for sponsrships. make a video of yourself ripping everything.
To be sponsored, you have to be very high pofile. So get known locally first, and then start PURSUEING the bigger fish.

I agree. Not that I really know that much about getting sponsored for skiing but it's just like anything else. The more people you know and the more people that see you the better off you are(networking is one of the most important things in any career). I'm not implying that you suck but it's the same reason there are shitty actors, bands, and all other artists that do well. They knew someone who liked what they were doing and got the exposure. If you have style and a good bag of tricks there is some company out there that will endorse what you're doing. The key is making sure that company sees what you can do.
Where did you find it?

where on the east coast do you live? 'cause there are a bunch of competitions all around the east. and in a comp - don't go for your biggest, huckiest trick - go for that 720 leading phil and try throwing it a little off-axis - that'll win you comp's and get heards turning. and what's wrong with pipe competitions? Pipe is fun, hard, and just as good (if not better) than a big air competition.
and as for your trick side of things - learn some switch shit and some inverts than you'll be gold.

Yeah, just like SkierX said, just get noticed at comps and then go around meet people get exposure. If you want to be really noticeable take on a personality like Brad Holmes or Plake yeah they are sick skiers, but alot of their fame comes from how high profile their personalitys and stuff are, so learn from the example, a 3 foot mohawk will get you noticed as will a big mouth and weird stuff.

hahaha yea really liam might be getting hooked up by dynastar and oakley now, so if you live in the east you can definately go to competitions, get some money, and get some sponsors if you do well enough; and if you can do what you say you can do you should get atleast a little bit of recognition. If you want to get sponsored so bad stop your bitching and get a friend or even parents to drive you to a competition.

It's really not what you can do. Perfect example. A level 3 (of 4) ski instructor a level 2, both with freestyle skiing certification, and a level 1 are all talking to a Head Rep. But the crappyest (is that a word) skier gets the reps number and is they're gonna work out a deal.

When you're ready, it will come.
Plus, how many days a week are you on the hill?
A lot of people only spend two or three days a week, and expect stuff. If you can't advertise with more ski time, then why would they want you?
Plus, make sure you expand your skills, big air sounds good, but how about pipe and rails? Sponsors don't want you to be a one-trick pony and only enter big air comps.
The biggest thing is to get out there. Compete as much as you can, meet as many people as you can, and get a couple years experience under your belt.
Sometimes it's hard at a young age to meet these guys, seeing as the best place to do it is at the bar.

im 14 too. i live in wisconsin, my best tricks are 720s, switch 540s, corked 7's to backplants, and 540 safty grabs. yes you could get sponsered, dont ask stupid questions. now, get your ass outside and win some competitions, you easily could if your not bullshittin'.

i don't know if anyone has said this already, i'm too lazy to go read what above. but...
getting sponsored isn't entirely about what tricks you can do, you have to be able to represent the company, and get their name out there.
Look at Sal, he doesnt even do any sports and he's still sponsored by oakley. just for being a cool guy.
