Ill start by saying I am in no way a hip hop expert. I know my way around a little, but other than that, Im just a white kid living in BC.
That being said, All of these rappers, Weez, Gille, Kanye (to an extent) jeezy, And i hate to say it buit T-pain, all have production value. They have dope beats (alot of weezys are ripped off of someone else.) Other than that, the lyrics are absolutely horrible.
One could argue, that weezy sounds good just because the way he says the words make it dope. his flow is what makes him. Ill agree, but the actual words he spits are rediculous, if not made up all together.
Lets just put on some lil wayne on random shall we, and I will ATTEMPT to decode what the fuck he is saying.
Song 1. "Donks." *note, catchy beat.
"NEFF NEFF! umm, lookee here.
Sp dunks, 575 jeans
5 thousand dollars on my fuckin wallet chain
I be wiley mayn
Im an Island(?) mayn
there aint nothin else by me mayn.
I tell em float on and go on to the ozone
Im so gone.. ect. just random jibberish, "the one that go DIH didili di di di di."
Shit gets way more crazier, we flip the bitch like we were in a gymnasierm, I aint fuckin wit them bitches with the stadierm."
Alright, He makes it sound catchy which to many is enjoyable. Thats why "crank that soulja boy" was perhaps the biggest ringtone hit in 2007. That being said rapping about your white tee, which you can get at marshalls for 2 dollars, how many bitches slob your knob, how much fuckin thousand is on yo wallet chain, how many bitches yo got, or CLAMING that you are the best rapper alive doesnt take skill. It takes a beat, and the literary skill of a 7 year old.
Im not going to say what real hip hop is, because thats strictly opinion, but This to me is commercialized bullshit that in 50 years we will listen to and wonder what the fuck we were thinking about.
Ringtone rap = A sad me.
