My idea for the 'buy/sell' problem on here -prelim

Name: NSmarket
Location: Resources tab
Purpose: To provide a public access list of confirmed sales on NS with a comments section/rebuttle area for each party involved.
Details: When two members decide they will engage in a transaction over NS, one of them would enter the NSmarket section and fill out a form listing the details of the transaction, type in the member name they will be dealing with and an auto-generated message would be sent to that member to confirm the existance of the transaction.
Example: JD wants to sell some pink man thongs to keith so JD goes into the NSmarket and fills out the form and keith agrees to the sale via the pm (which would lead to a section in the NSmarket where you can review your transactions).
JD --> Ski_unit
JD would like to confirm a transaction with you. please visit blah blah blah to confirm.
NSmarket ad ex:
Seller: JD
Buyer: Ski_Unit
Product: (5) Pink man thongs
Price: $50 [Hide price from public Yes/No]
After the transaction was confirmed, a comments section would be avaible for the public to read and for the participants to write in.
You could click on a persons profile and just like there are tabs like Profile/Threads/Photos/etc, there would be one for Transactions. You could click on it and there would be the list of transactions that person was a part of. You could review how other sales went down with that person.
Now this isnt ment to be an anti-scaming idea, but instead a place where its easy to search a persons transaction record. The buy/sell thread is rediculous to go through (Rowens got a taste of it) so I think this would work plus it doesnt sound very hard to program in.

Plain and simple classifieds section is what we need. Each item gets posted, is searchable and has a comments thread below it. Maybe buyer/seller rating. Possibly a way to place/accept/reject offers. Just too complicated in threads

Great idea, and I too agree and feel that Ski Equipment needs to become a tech/gear question area, instead of a classifieds section. Gear for sale should have its own classifieds section.

i forgot to add, that is a sweet idea tho about hiding the price and their transaction history kinda like ebay if they are a good s/b or not.

Instead of making it under resources, make it under forums so more people would see. And maybe every hour putting up a random new item for sale on the front page in a tiny box. It would get more poeples attention and help someones sale out possibly. I like the idea though.

The purpose here isnt to be a place to sell, but rather a collection of transaction records that are searchable by the NS public. if you have decided to engage in a transaction over NS, wouldn't you like the ability to search previous deals that users has had?

We'd love to do a way better buying/selling area... not somethign we can do right now, but something we shoudl build into the site for next year. We've already started planning the site changes for next year, so now is the time to get ideas for this stuff together.
in the meantime, lets split up ski equipment forum. Been a long time coming. Go into ski equipment and give me your thoughts!

i like the freedom your given of selling in forums. Classifieds never really worked. I really think a buy/sell forum and a tech talk like tgr would be more than sufficient. Its so simple and wouldn't over complicate things. I think good buyer/seller list needs to be organized into something new. Maybe like a feedback tab in everyones profile. and people can just leave posts on it like articles from the front page

I really like this idea. I think that people would still post in the ski equipment, but this would be used to undergo transactions. This will help people with determining good buyers/sellers. I LOVE IT. All HALE RYNO
