So in the past couple months me and a few friends have gotten owned by some AIM hacker. Just to let you guys know. It started with me just talking to one of my friends like I always do. The convo started with her saying her heater was broken and goin off making the house hot. Then we talked about my girlfriend, WHICH SHE BROUGH UP. Like "How are you and Emily?" And lots of stuff. Then I got a message from "AIM Alert Msg 05." Saying something about new email hacking stuff that's out and they need my email address and password to make it safe. And I'm like "Ha, whatever, I'm not stupid." Then I tell my friend about it and she's like "Oh, its ok my uncle works for AOL and said it's actually legit. We did that last week." She said she called him to make sure. So, I'm like, "Hmm maybe I guess it's chill." So I give them one of my addresses and passwords and it gets blocked out for like 10 minutes. They must have changed the password, and said, "Ya, you won't be able to log in while we update it."
So it all finishes and shit and I get my email address back. Then I check all my other passwords to sites and they're all legit still. Then I notice I can't log into Facebook, and my actual facebook thing is gone. So, I'm like "Bastards." Even till now it looks like all the did was take my facebook.
Now, today I found out that a few of my friends actually talked to people on their buddy lists who said their heaters were messed, and when they got the AIM thing, their "real" friends said it's cool, their uncle works for AOL. Also, the "real" friend KNEW shit about us. Like brought up things about skiing with me, and knew our girlfriends and shit that was going on.
So this is just a heads up. For my girlfriend, the "real" friend was the screenname of one of her real close friends, and they had really personal convos about shit, and now she feals really bad telling a stranger all that stuff. So, make sure you are ACTUULLY talking to your friends when you talk to people online.
