he got caught hanging from the chairlift this summer and is currently banned from both mountains (as far as I know). Not sure for how long though. He left Whistler a couple days ago and has moved to Park City.

i'll find out for sure what is up...not that it's anyone's business, but better than having a shitload of rumors floating around. Chris is a good guy and it's a shame the mountain felt they had to ban him. He represents Whistler well and it's not going to be the same without him ripin' up the park

I've heard that you guys have ski-patrol that monitor how fast you ski, and check if jumps are made inbounds. Here, we dont even have an inbounds area, you can ski wherever the fuck you want, do what you wanna do, build a kicker over a fuckin lift line if you wanna. its all good.

Its all down to your litigation culture, get to europe doods, you'll love it.

Over here in NA we have a problem with something called lawsuits. Our fucking culture has abbused them and people can pretty much make money off thier stupidity. So people have to be anal about these kind of things or they are a couple million dollars poorer. Total Bullshit

Hey GTs got it right man, I ski in switzerland now, and they didnt give a shit what i did. We had some places roped off, under one of the lifts cause peoples feet were only like 8 ft from the ground and there was a cliff right there. u had to time your launch so u wouldnt hit someone.. it was sweet, the 'patrol' would yell at me-in german-so i didnt understand, but the regular people loved it!
And man, Verbier rocks but its almost too fuckin big!

What he did was turn to face the back rest on the chair and then latch his feet by the bench. He'd lay back and sway from the lift. One day some mountain manager was lurking in the bushes watching for cigarette throwers and bair feeders when he saw Turpin. The apprehended him at the bottom and he wasn't skiing for the rest of the summer. He was still coaching for High North during the after ksiing activities and he was always out at the water ramps.

Personally I think he is one of the best things to happen to the Whictler/Blackcomb freeride team. If they not only banned him for the summer, but for the whole year, I'd be pissed. It definately won't be the same vibe in the park without Turpin doing his power laps and helping the rest of us out.
We should get together and make some kind of petition together with everyone on this sites name on it. If Whistler see's that they have upset over 3000 people that may have to potentially go to Park City (a bit of an exaggeration) to ski with him, then they may give the guy some slack. Imagine what they would think. We could even get some personal accounts of skiing with the guy, how cool he was, and all that other shit. Or who knows, maybe he's stoked about Park City?
Anyway, I hope he kills it this season no matter where he skis.

in volume 8 i think, in turpins profile he says how whistle/blackcomb is the best resort. hes done the resort a couple favours and they give him shit in return. this is bullshit.

too bad SLC is where it's at in the snowboarding world. That place has fucking blown up with people with sleds and all the possibilities in little cottonwood. It's probally going to really help him expand out of the park(not saying whistler is lacking in terrain), but everyone in SLC is going out and finding new sick hits all the time. Also PC's park get's sick early and the canyons will get going a little later. He'll have an airport very close and Alta, Snowbird, Solitude to catch some lift served powder.

Here is the story straight from whistler..
turpin has moved to pc (moved in with tanner and the boys - geez that will be trouble) and it is because he was kicked out.. basically he got two strikes against him (one in the winter and then one in the summer for hanging off the chairlift as said above). He was supposed to write an apology letter and put it in the paper here but he didn't.. so he got out and went down (apperently for the winter.. but who ever knows with turpin).. he will be greatly missed but hopefully will be able to get his slate cleaned up and get back up here!
