wakesurfing

i want to try this, how many of you guys wakesurf? do you need an inboard to do it, or can an outboard work too?

I wakesurf alot. IT is so fun when the water gets too shitty to wakeboard. I woukd definitley not do it wiht an outboard or an inboard/ooutboard. BEcause when you wakesurf you are only like 5 feet from the boat and if the prop is hanging out like it does on the above mentioned boats you are in a good position to lose a limb. If you have an inboard then definitley give it a try but other wise i wouldnt do it.
(trust me, the '' things aren't actually there)

inboard makes a tiny wake though without fatsacs or ballast...get a vdrive.
def don't wakesurf behind an outboard or inboard/outboard though. You could get chopped up pretty easily.

Man it is so fun, i used to do almost every weekend after boarding but my friend doesnt have a wakesurfer, he has a real longboard so we would jump at that baby behind his natique. I recommend you try it, it can be a real blast

I do it with my I/O engine.....sure it is a little bit scarier....but who doesnt like a little bit of a rush

yeah because liquid force just made the skimskate, and it looks pretty sweet, more of a wakeskate shape than a surfboard shape. yeah i have an outboard, but i was thinking maybe setting the rope like ten feet back and just carving the wake and shit, i'm not sure though.

hmm, well im going wakeskating tomorrow, i'll have everyone movie to one side and get the bow way up in the air and see how far back the pocket of the wake is, then decide if it's worth it.

u can have either one, just need a ballast really. doesnt work well otherwise, or just fat people

wait im confused because its late at night but are you talking about like wakeskating where you have a board not connected to your feet???

Because we do that with my outboard motor boat with a skimboard. The outboard motor boat doesn't matter or make it unsafe, I don't understand what people are talking about.

Well..you're supposed to wake surf like 2 feet or less behind the boat.

You start out holding onto a rope, but once you're close the the boat where you can have decent control, you throw the rope in and just ride. This can cause you to come forward and hit the boat (I know it sounds dumb, but it happens to people all the time). With an outboard or inboard/outboard, the prop is right where you're heading, and you could easily get shredded to pieces (or just ruin your equipment and be in a ton of pain)

ohhh, I see what your talking about. yeah one of my friends did that behind my boat, I never relized he could get chopped up by my motor though. Crap, Im not lettin them do that anymore.

can anyone here drop the rope while wake surfing and keep up with the boat..... when i toss the rope away i can for a few seconds but then boat jus leaves me and i ca'nt stay up with it.... We got a hyperllite landlock board for free this year.... its amazing on shitty days

dude.... I randomly tried this for the first time the other day, and yea I did it behind an outboard. I couldn't let go of the rope though. it was slack when I was going straight, but as soon as I turned at all, the rope would go tight. good fun though. and I think you would have to dive forwards to hit the motor.... so unless you do something dumb.... meh.

I can let go of the rope and just ride the wake if we have enough weight in the back. The biggest I've seen ridden was in a B52 with the ballast tanks full, a 350lb fat sac in the front and 6 people sitting in the back of the boat. It was pretty huge. The guy who was riding was really good too, so it was cool watching him.
